Happy Election Day, John!
First and foremost, thank you – from the bottom of our hearts.
Today is the day we’ve been working toward all year. Your dedication, your time, and your belief in grassroots organizing have already changed what’s possible in our states – and slowly, in our country.
This Election Day comes at a challenging moment. With Donald Trump and a Republican-controlled Congress dragging on a federal shutdown, threatening food aid, abducting members of our communities, and undermining basic rights, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But that’s why we organize where we can make the most tangible difference: in the states.
Because of you, 2025 has been Sister District’s most impactful odd year since our founding.
Together, we:
- Endorsed 33 candidates across 8 states
- Made nearly 1.3 million calls to voters
- Raised nearly $800k for powerful candidates
- Helped win four special elections
This work already broke the Republican supermajority in the Iowa Senate, defended the Democratic majority in the Minnesota House, and reached voters in every corner of Virginia.
These aren’t just theoretical wins, John. They have a real impact on our communities and our future.
In Virginia, the last state in the South with broad abortion access, Democrats are advancing constitutional amendments to protect reproductive freedom, secure marriage equality, and restore voting rights for people who’ve completed felony sentences. They’re also preparing for mid-decade redistricting that could add new Democratic seats to Congress and reshape the national map.
This is what sustained organizing makes possible, and tonight we’ll see that power in action once again.
As results come in from Virginia, Minnesota, and Mississippi, remember: it may take time to count every vote. But every single one matters. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
No matter what happens tonight, you’ve strengthened our movement and laid the foundation for the fights ahead—in 2026, 2027, 2028, and beyond.
Thank you for being part of this Sister District family. We couldn’t be prouder to build progressive power in the states alongside you.
With deep gratitude,
All of us at Sister District
