Our 13th Annual Thanks, Birth Control Day is Coming!
Power to Decide’s 13th annual Thanks, Birth Control Day ([link removed]) is on November 12, and we need your help spreading the word! #ThxBirthControl Day celebrates the impact of access to birth control on people’s lives, health, and freedom—especially amid increasing attacks and misinformation. This day encourages everyone to share their stories about how access to birth control, education, and care has shaped their lives and supported their reproductive well-being. Join us by sharing your experience on social media using our #ThxBirthControl toolkit ([link removed]) and by encouraging others to keep the conversation going to help break the stigma year-round.
Inside the Society of Family Planning 2025: Bedsider Providers+ in Action
Power to Decide was honored to attend the Society of Family Planning Annual Meeting earlier this month, connecting with dedicated sexual and reproductive health (SRH) providers on the front lines of care and equity. Conversations about Bedsider Providers+ ([link removed]) underscored how essential trusted, evidence-based tools are in combating social media-driven misinformation.
We’re inspired by all the engagement and excited to welcome so many new members to our growing community. If you haven’t yet explored it, learn more about how Bedsider Providers+ can support your work ([link removed]) , or sign up for our free Bedsider Providers newsletter ([link removed]) .
Social Media Collaborations
As misinformation about sexual and reproductive health continues to spread across social media, it’s more important than ever for Power to Decide and its platforms to show up in those spaces. By partnering with influencers and brands that are already reaching young people, we can make sure everyone has access to accurate, trustworthy information—and the tools they need to get the health care they deserve.
In particular, our video content continues to educate our key audiences. One of our recent successes includes partnering with popular TikTok creator Julieta Del Carmen to publish an ASMR-style series of videos ([link removed]) walking through a selection of birth control methods. ASMR, or autonomous sensory meridian response, is a popular video format known for its soothing sounds and calming vibes, which can make learning about sensitive topics feel more approachable. The series has reached millions, and tapping into the world of ASMR is helping Bedsider reach new and diverse audiences.
SRH in the Media
In the media, we’re seeing news headlines highlight both the challenges and opportunities people face as they navigate a chaotic and confusing reproductive health landscape. From the impact of clinic closures to the dismantling of the HHS Office of Population Affairs (OPA), Power to Decide programs and resources like Bedsider ([link removed]) , AbortionFinder ([link removed]) , and Contraceptive Deserts ([link removed]) were featured in several media outlets to help break through this noise and get people the care and information they need.

Papás por Siempre ([link removed]) , the highly anticipated sequel to Papás por Conveniencia ([link removed]) , is now airing in the U.S. The show premiered on October 13 on Las Estrellas in Mexico, as the most-watched telenovela on broadcast TV, and debuted on October 21 on Univision, where audiences are tuning in on-air and online. Produced by TelevisaUnivision, renowned producer Rosy Ocampo ([link removed]) , and the Population Media Center ([link removed]) (PMC), a global leader in social-impact storytelling, the series continues Power to Decide’s long-standing collaboration with PMC.
Power to Decide is proud to be among a select group of social impact organizations informing storylines ([link removed]) and connecting viewers with trusted resources. As the show’s lead U.S. resource on SRH, Bedsider builds on our first-season partnership ([link removed]) by advising the creative team on topics including relationships, masculinity, sexual health, and contraception. We also developed a custom Bedsider landing page ([link removed]) to give viewers easy access to resources as storylines unfold, which is featured on Univision’s resource hub ([link removed]) alongside other partners.
Watch episodes Monday through Friday at 8/7c on Univision ([link removed]) or stream anytime on Vix ([link removed]) .
Government Shutdown Continues
As of November 4th, Congress has not passed any measure, temporary or otherwise, to end the ongoing shutdown. While this does mean that the programs that fund family planning and reproductive well-being services, namely Title X and the Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) Program, are not currently receiving federal funds, the clinics and programs within their networks are still functioning as expected with the use of the funds already allocated at the end of the last fiscal year.
Furthermore, the Trump-Vance Administration began issuing reduction in force (RIFs) notices to federal employees in various agencies in the wake of the government shutdown. Among those who received RIFs were staff at the HHS Office of Population Affairs (OPA) ([link removed]) , the office that administers grants for both Title X and TPP. All but one staff member in the office received RIFs, meaning that the operations in OPA have functionally halted. While there have been some temporary legal wins, this will continue to play out in the courts.
As negotiations in Congress draw on, we should all remind our representatives of their commitment to defend our interests. Contact your policymakers ([link removed]) and urge them to negotiate an end to this shutdown that prioritizes reproductive well-being for all.
States Begin Pre-Filing
Most state legislatures are not currently in session, but pre-filing has begun in at least 16 states and DC, and will be available in 13 more states before the end of the year. Pre-filing is the practice of introducing bills between state legislative sessions so they can be taken up as soon as the legislature formally begins. It helps lawmakers start their legislative strategy early. This Fiscal Note resource ([link removed]) provides more background on prefiling bills and why it is beneficial for advocates to monitor these bills.
For over a decade, our Thanks, Birth Control campaign has uplifted the voices of those who rely on birth control to shape their futures and live life on their own terms. But continued access to contraception depends on support from people like you.
Your gift to Power to Decide helps protect this essential care, expand access to trusted information, and ensure everyone has the power to decide if, when, and under what circumstances to get pregnant and have a child. Your generosity makes it possible to provide the tools and resources that make these decisions easier for millions. Show your support for Thanks, Birth Control with a gift today!
