Dear John,

“I don’t need to be here.”

That’s what Industry Minister Mélanie Joly told me at the Industry Committee this week when I demanded answers for thousands of Canadian auto workers whose jobs are on the line.

While factories sit idle, production moves south to the U.S., and families brace for layoffs, this Liberal government is refusing to take responsibility.

Unfortunately, Canadians are watching their auto industry vanish and the Minister in charge thinks she doesn’t need to be held accountable.

This isn’t just about one company or one factory. It’s about the future of Canada’s manufacturing base – the middle-class jobs that built this country and the communities that depend on them. The Liberals have spent billions of taxpayer dollars on subsidies and promises, yet workers are still being left behind.

Conservatives will continue to fight for every Canadian auto worker, defend our manufacturing jobs, and demand real accountability for every dollar of public money doled out. When jobs are at stake, Canadians deserve a government that shows up, not one that shrugs off responsibility.

Canadian auto workers built this industry with their hands, skill, and pride. They deserve leadership, not arrogance.
