John,
In the past several weeks, Donald Trump has authorized a series of illegal, unauthorized bombings in the Caribbean, and he’s dangerously escalated tensions in the region. One more wrong move, and we could become wrapped up in an all-out war in Venezuela.
Most recently, Trump has ordered the Navy’s “most lethal” warship — the USS Gerald R. Ford — to the area. He’s also reportedly approved CIA operations inside Venezuela, and top officials are drawing up plans for a land strike.
Congress cannot stay silent while Trump drags us toward another needless war.
The Constitution is clear: Only Congress has the power to declare war. That’s why lawmakers must immediately pass a War Powers Resolution to rein in Trump’s reckless actions and prevent this crisis from escalating further.
Millions of lives are at risk, and we’ve seen what happens when Congress fails to act in cases like this.
Now is the moment to speak up. Will you sign on now to tell Senators and Representatives to support a War Powers Resolution and stop Trump from launching another endless war?
Thank you for taking action,
Democratic Values
