As we enter a second month of this government shutdown, Senate Democrats still refuse to act on the clean funding bill House Republicans passed to keep essential services running. Florida ranchers continue to face rising production expenses as the national cattle herd recovers from historically low levels. Rebuilding supply will take steady, long-term support. Producers in our district have also raised concern about possible increases in beef imports from Argentina, which has a past record of foot-and-mouth disease. Argentina already exports beef to the United States while restricting U.S. products in return, which is unfair to Florida producers. That is why I urged the United States Department of Agriculture and the United States Trade Representative to move carefully and put American cattlemen first as we work to protect herd health and fair market access. I will continue working with producers and federal partners to strengthen domestic production and support the ranching families who put American beef on the table. Click here to read the letter.

I recently joined defense and industry leaders at the Professional Services Council (PSC) Defense Conference to discuss how we can strengthen America's defense industrial base and prepare our military for the next generation of AI-enabled capabilities. Our conversation centered on how artificial intelligence, reliable energy infrastructure, and secure supply chains will shape future readiness—and why staying ahead of adversaries like China is critical to our national security. I appreciate PSC and all who took part in this timely discussion as we continue working to equip our warfighters with the tools they need to defend our nation.
