Just in from CNN:
“President Donald Trump commuted the prison sentence of his longtime friend Roger Stone on Friday, after Stone was convicted of crimes that included lying to Congress in part, prosecutors said, to protect the President.”
Roger Stone lied to Congress to protect Donald Trump. Now, Donald Trump is using his powers as President of the United States to keep his felonious friend and political dirty trickster out of prison. I am asking you to stand with me today and fight back to defend our rule of law →
Stone was a key link between Trump’s 2016 campaign and Wikileaks, the organization that published emails from the DNC and Hillary Clinton’s campaign that had been stolen by Russian cyber spies.
He bragged about his connections with Wikileaks founder Jullian Assange and even worked with his henchman to coordinate the release of Russia's stolen emails with the Trump campaign.
There’s even evidence indicating that Stone knew the “Access Hollywood” tape was going to be published, and so pressured Assange to start releasing the emails to distract the public’s attention away from Trump.
If you lie to Congress, there are consequences. If you help a foreign power interfere in our elections, there are consequences. And if you do both? You're damn right there are consequences!
Make no mistake: What Donald Trump just did erodes our system of justice. It signals to his friends if you lie to protect him and help cover it up, he’ll make sure you get off easy.
No one is above the law. Not Roger Stone. Not Donald Trump. And I am determined to hold Trump and his friends accountable for each and every one of their crimes. Can I count on you to stand with me in this fight?
