Colin and our team are taking every precautionary step to protect ourselves and our families and stop the spread of this virus. To find out what you can do to stay healthy, check out the CDC’s website for the most up-to-date information. Additionally, if you or a loved one are a member of our veteran community, we want to make sure you saw news on Colin’s work to secure a new VA hospital in North Texas.

We know these are tough times for so many families, but we appreciate you staying with us.

John,

Texas is quickly becoming one of the states hardest-hit by COVID. There are almost a quarter of a million cases and over 3,000 deaths to date, and health experts all over the world are pleading with us to stay at home and stay safe.

This is not a political issue, John. But public officials are using it to advance their own agenda of voter suppression by limiting access to vote-by-mail to the ballot box.

In a democracy, no one should have their right to vote obstructed or suppressed. North Texas voters should be able to decide how they cast their ballot based on their personal needs and health. The job of good government is to assist in creating these pathways — not to cut them off for political gain.

That is why I’m renewing my call to action and demanding that we institute universal vote-by-mail for this election. And I need your name next to mine, John.

This fight is personal for me, John. Before I ran for Congress, I was a voting rights lawyer focused on making sure everyone had access to the ballot. I witnessed firsthand how voter suppression laws excluded people of color and young people from their right to vote, and I’ve fought to ensure these rights are protected.

But this pandemic, which is already disproportionately affecting people of color, is exacerbating the injustices we face when we vote. It is past time our government rectified that and ensures we all have a chance to vote.

That’s why I support universal vote-by-mail in this election, and why I’m calling on Congress to do the same. And if you agree, I need you to join me.
