Dear John,
Legendary Alabama coach Bear Bryant
is said to have coined the phrase “Defense wins championships”, and history has
largely proven him right. 2019 has
provided plenty of opportunities to reflect on this truism – in stadiums, the
pages of history and in St. Paul.
At the Super Bowl in February the
high-powered Los Angeles Rams offense (that had averaged 33 points per game in
the regular season) was held to just 3 points by the New England Patriots. Earlier this summer the U.S. Women’s National
Team conceded only 3 goals in 7 matches on their way to their fourth World Cup
title. And on June 6th we
marked 75 years since D-Day – a successful operation largely because the Nazis
guessed wrong about where the Allies would land and had insufficient defenses
in Normandy.
What does this have to do with St.
Paul? Well, 2019 was all about
defense for Minnesota Family Council.
We defended Minnesota families against an onslaught of anti-family,
anti-religious freedom, anti-life legislation. For a full recap, click here.
Last Fall’s elections made this stand
necessary, and we were ready, thanks to the generosity of our donors and the
dedication of our staff. The important
role we play isn’t possible without hard work and sacrifice. Will you consider making a gift to
support the critical defensive work we do each and every day?
If you’ve never given to Minnesota
Family Council, or if it’s been a long time, today’s a great day for your first
gift or to renew your support. Donations
typically go down in the summer, so every gift makes a big difference!
A gift of $25, $50, $100 or even
more, as the Lord leads you, would be gratefully received.
