Hi John, Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the gravity of the situation we’re facing.
We are living in unprecedented times. Never before has our country faced such deep threats to our democracy. Trump has shut down the government and is trying to use the shutdown as a pretext for cutting off food assistance to people who need it. Health insurance costs are ballooning because they took money out of health care for a tax cut for rich people. The Speaker has shut the House down and sent members home for the last six weeks to avoid a vote on the Epstein files and to keep them secret. These irresponsible actions have thrown millions of families into economic peril. And Trump’s refusal to come to the table to negotiate an end to these harms has demonstrated his inability to govern. It's a lot, John, and I understand why you might want a break. But we can’t afford to disengage or turn away. There are too many important fights that we must continue to wage — for an economy that works for everyone, for our democracy, and for the health and safety of us all. The future is not set; it is up to us, and we can make all the difference. And there are good reasons for hope. Millions of Americans have come out to protest against the president. Courts are ruling in our favor. And we are poised for important victories on Tuesday in California, New Jersey, and Virginia. Thank you for being part of this grassroots team and having my back every step of the way. — Adam
