Assessing Marketplace coverage for parents and children



As Congress continues to debate whether to extend Marketplace enhanced premium tax credits, a new analysis from Urban Institute researchers finds that Marketplace plans have become a critical part of the health insurance landscape for families with children, particularly for parents in states that have not expanded Medicaid.


Marketplace coverage rose steeply for both children and parents between 2019 and 2025&mdash;with children and parents combined accounting for 4 in 10 of all nonelderly Marketplace enrollees.
