John,

Because of you, we’re able to keep building the partnerships and outreach that strengthen our community.

Right now, many of our neighbors are struggling. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which helps roughly 42 million Americans afford groceries, is being disrupted during the government shutdown. The administration initially refused to use contingency funds to continue payments. After a court order, they announced that only about half of November’s benefits will be paid out, leaving millions unsure how to feed their families.

This gap is already being felt at local food banks. At Feeding San Diego and the Jacobs & Cushman Food Bank, lines are growing longer by the day. But as hunger-relief experts have warned, food banks cannot fill the void left by SNAP. For every meal distributed by food banks nationwide, SNAP typically provides nine. When SNAP is reduced, food insecurity rises almost immediately—especially for children, seniors, and working families.

Our local food banks are doing heroic work, but they cannot do it alone. If you can, please consider donating to help them keep shelves stocked and families fed during this difficult time.

Please join me in supporting Feeding San Diego [[link removed]] and the Jacobs & Cushman Food Bank [[link removed]] today.

Thank you,

Mike
