Team,
We just endorsed two bipartisan bills that would open up the market for apps, allowing tech innovation to thrive: the Open App Markets Act, introduced by Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), and the App Store Freedom Act, introduced by Reps. Lori Trahan (D-MA) and Kat Cammack (R-FL).
These bills would push back on Big Tech’s monopoly over our app marketplace, making space for innovation that prioritizes our privacy, safety, and well-being. If we want to see them passed, we need to show a groundswell of support. Sign on now:

As young people who have grown up online, we know that the app ecosystem is engineered against us. Apple and Google have a stranglehold on the industry — from requiring us to use their payment systems to controlling app distribution. Their domination bars any viable alternatives to their data-farming, surveillance-based business models.
But our generation of developers is building tools that reject surveillance capitalism and manipulative design. We’re innovating towards pro-human technologies that put our privacy, safety, and well-being first. In order for us to access technology that allows us to thrive online, we need lawmakers’ support to enforce that competitive markets are a necessity — not just a nice-to-have.
Sign on now to show lawmakers across the country that we demand open markets for apps so we can create real choice for users.
By overcoming Big Tech’s monopoly, we can create a safer online world, by us, for everyone.
In solidarity,
Zamaan Qureshi
Co-Chair
