John, Donald Trump commuted Roger Stone’s sentence, feeding the cycle of this administration’s corruption, collusion, and coverups.
Stone was just days away from surrendering to authorities to serve his sentence in federal prison for running a coverup for the president. He lied during investigations, intimidated witnesses to protect his long time friend Donald Trump, and openly lobbied the president for a pardon in exchange for his silence.
These are dark days for our country. When Senate Republicans failed to hold Trump accountable after the House voted to impeach him, they destroyed the guardrails of our democracy.
The Senate gave Trump a license to disregard the Constitution, reward his cronies, and corrupt our system of justice. In November, we have one more chance to take back our country.
In Congress, I will continue to hold our leaders -- including the president -- accountable. But Trump’s GOP will spend whatever it takes to stop us. That's why I need you with me.
