Folks, let me tell you:
This young kid here – he had no idea he’d one day be elected Governor of Virginia and eventually a US Senator:
I grew up in a middle class family and was the first in my family to graduate college. After school, I spent nights sleeping on friends’ couches and living out of my car while I invested my entire life savings into a business that failed.
But that’s not where my story ends. I got a second (and third) chance. I took a risk and invested in the cell phone industry while Virginians were still using landlines. I’m proud to have founded what became one of Virginia’s leading tech companies.
It’s not lost on me: the fair shot I got early in my career is now out of reach for too many Americans. It’s why I ran for public office in the first place.
And, frankly, it’s why I’m so pissed at what we’re seeing from Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress. Their dangerous policies are raising prices and hurting American families while Trump’s friends and family get richer.

We can, and we must, do better. And that starts right here in Virginia – where tomorrow we have the opportunity to flip the Governor’s Office from red to blue and expand Democrats’ razor-thin majority in the legislature. And next year, the fight for control of Congress could run right through our Commonwealth.
