Last Thursday, we officially awarded the Bullitt Prize to Chris Esponda at a ceremony in Seattle. Each year, this $100,000 award goes to a person 35 or younger who is advancing environmental progress and justice. Chris dedicates himself to connecting under-resourced communities with access to digital technology by refurbishing and donating computers. His work keeps tons of electronic waste out of landfills. Read more about Chris’s story and what he plans to do with the prize fund here. [[link removed]]

We had great conversations with many of you about protecting people and nature. Thank you for showing up to rally in defense of our democracy! Let’s continue to hold our elected officials accountable and to make our voices heard!
In Whatcom County, WCA joined a coalition of six environmental organizations and rallied nearly 700 people to comment in opposition of the illegal expansion of a major fossil fuel terminal in Cherry Point. Despite overwhelming opposition against the expansion, Whatcom County still granted permits to the corporate polluter. A coalition of environmental groups, including WCA, then filed a legal appeal to challenge this decision. Read more here. [[link removed]]
