Team, the latest news about our healthcare is grim: if Congress doesn’t act soon, healthcare premiums will go up for hundreds of thousands of people in Wisconsin next year — anywhere from 45% to 800%.

That’s happening all over the country. Millions of people could lose the financial help they need to keep their Affordable Care Act policies, and with it, their access to life-saving coverage.

Instead of working with Democrats to find a solution, Republicans have shut down the government.

This fight is personal to me — I know how scary it is to be uninsured.

As a child, I had a severe illness that put me in the hospital for three months. Even after I recovered, that previous illness meant my family couldn’t get health insurance for me.

The ACA fixed that by making sure health insurance companies could no longer deny coverage based on pre-existing conditions, but now Republicans are chipping away at the ACA and threatening Americans’ access to affordable health care.

That’s why I’m fighting so hard to defend healthcare access for all of us. Stand with me in telling Republicans to join Democrats in protecting our care:
