Aloha HRP Members,
I want to begin by saying I am deeply honored and humbled to have had the opportunity to represent our members and advance the values that unite us as Republicans. It has been an incredible journey serving as Chair of the Hawaii Republican Party.
Since stepping into this role, there have been unexpected challenges within our party, and unforeseen extensive personal travel schedules that has taken me away from Hawaii for long periods. These factors have made it increasingly difficult to serve with the focus and dedication our party deserves. After much prayer and discussion with my family, I have made the difficult decision to step aside, effective today.
Hawaii has so much potential, and our islands need Republican leadership. I want to ask that we stop wasting energy on minor party differences and stay laser-focused on what truly matters — supporting our Republican legislators and candidates in 2026. This is not the time for division or distraction. Every moment spent on internal disputes only helps the Democrats. Our strength lies in our unity, our conviction, and our shared mission to win in 2026 and build a stronger Hawaii for generations to come.
I am confident our party remains in capable hands with strong and principled leaders including Laura Nakanelua, National Chairwoman (RNC); Kaulana Lee, Vice Chair of Communications; Jackie Beckman, Vice Chair of Coalitions; Misty Cluett, Kauai County Chair; and many others who continue to work tirelessly for the good of our members. These are men and women of integrity who put people first and remain true to our core values.
I also want to express my deep respect for those serving in our legislature — individuals like Brenton Awa, Lauren Matsumoto, Diamond Garcia, David Alcos, Kurt Fevella, Samantha De Corte, Garner Shimizu, Joe Gideon, and others — who serve with humility and dedication to the people of Hawaii.
As I step aside, I wholeheartedly endorse Laura Nakanelua as the next Chair of the Hawaii Republican Party. Laura has previously led our party with excellence and currently serves as our respected RNC National Chairwoman. She is a trusted, proven, and humble leader who will continue to strengthen our movement and lead with grace and conviction.
May God bless each of you as we move forward together in faith, unity, and hard work — toward victory in November 2026, with Gary Cordery as Governor and Brenton Awa as our next Congressman.
I remain proud to be a Republican — standing for faith, family, freedom, life, and one nation under God.
With love and aloha,
Art
