P.S. My grandfather wasn’t a man of many words, but every word he said carried weight.
He served in Korea, came home, built a home with his bare hands, raised three boys, and kept a loaded shotgun behind the door till the day he died. Not because he was paranoid. Because he was prepared.
I’ll never forget the story he told me when I asked him why.
It was the early '70s. They were living way out in the sticks of Tennessee. Middle of nowhere. One night, around 2 a.m., the dogs started barking like hell. He looked out the window and saw two men cutting across the field with flashlights...slow, quiet, creeping.
