1) A True "World" Series
This year's intense World Series was one for the ages.
For decades, foreigners have scoffed at the idea that the championship of MLB is a "world" series, because baseball is played all over the planet.
But the Dodgers are the most international team in the history of the major leagues:
A trio of players made in Japan?
And a slugging right fielder heralding from obscure Cotui in the Dominican Republic?
And a Puerto Rican with rock star hair who plays any position?
And a substitute second baseman from Venezuela who fielded like a Gold Glover and hit a movie-moment homer to force the final game into extra innings?
That's not to mention teammates from Cuba, South Korea and, yes, Louisville, Ky. (That's the hometown of catcher Will Smith, who hit the winning homer early Sunday morning in Toronto, to launch the Dodgers to a 5-4 victory.)

It's one reason America is number one in nearly everything from sports to Silicon Valley technology. We get the best and brightest.
And by the way, all of the Dodgers came to the country LEGALLY.

2) Everyone Hates Solar Power
Robert Bryce, one of our "go-to" experts on energy issues, has created a database that tallies up the number of communities that have rejected solar and other "green" energy projects.
His latest findings: Solar Rejections Hit Record in 2025, Global Rejection Tally Hits 1,122.
[link removed]
"2025 is already a record year for solar rejections around the globe. As can be seen in the Renewable Rejection Database ([link removed]) , there have already been 117 rejections or restrictions of solar energy projects around the world this year. That tally exceeds the 114 rejections that were recorded in all of 2024. Overall, the tally of rejections now stands at 1,122. The British Isles remain an epicenter of the backlash against wind, solar, and battery projects."
We never could understand why ugly wind turbines and acres of solar panels were considered "green." They aren't just eyesores. They are industrializing the wilderness of America and other nations. No wonder people are screaming: "Not in my backyard."
Green Dreams or Nightmares?

3) Why Bill Gates Changed His Mind
Some of our conservative friends believe that Bill Gates has shifted his position on climate change because Microsoft is going big on data centers.
AI will triple our electric power needs over the next fifteen years. And you can't get that from windmills.
But we will give Gates the benefit of the doubt and accept that he is a true humanitarian who wants to use his $75 billion foundation to help his fellow man by ending poverty.
If that's his goal, then he probably has come to the realization that one of the best ways to achieve that goal is by making energy cheaper - not more expensive. Rich countries use far more energy than poor countries.

4) Start Spreading The Blues: New York's Shrinking Finance Sector
Regardless of who wins NYC's mayoral election on Tuesday, the city's governing model has already set the city in a spiral of decline. Its biggest employment gains are in government jobs and health care, which are ruled by government dictates. Its financial sector is shrinking. What America's biggest city urgently needs are a slate of pro-growth policies.

During this government funding dispute, Trump and the Republicans in Congress have as the Economist magazine reports:
The share of New York City's workers employed in finance and insurance has been in decline for years, falling from 11.5% in 1990 to 7.7% in August. Of the 233,000 jobs in the industry created in America over the past five years, the state of New York secured only around 19,000, behind Texas, Florida, North Carolina and Georgia. JPMorgan, its vast new skyscraper notwithstanding, employs more people in Texas than New York.
Why is the city's financial pre-eminence slipping?.... A double-whammy of high costs and heavy taxes. New York state's corporate income tax, at 7.25%, is not especially burdensome. But the city, unusually, piles its own corporate income tax on top, as well as a levy for the regional transport network, leaving some local businesses paying more than 18% in local taxes alone.

5) The Mighty Powell Strikes Out
Some readers have complained that we are too tough on Fed chairman Jerome Powell when we say that it is time for him to go.
Really? His miserable performance speaks for itself.
In only one month of his first 79 months as chairman of the Fed has the central bank been within 10% of their 2% target interest rate.
A chart titled, "Fed PCE Inflation Targeting Performance."
That’s a 0.013 batting average. It’s a far worse record than under previous Fed chairs Greenspan, Bernanke, and Yellen.
We need to get back to price stability and a strong dollar.
