Email from 40 Days for Life But 40DFL volunteers set the record straight John, You did it! You just completed one of the largest mobilizations of pro-lifers in history, uniting Christians in 671 cities around the globe. Thanks to your prayers and God's generosity, we continue to receive reports of babies who were scheduled to be aborted--but are instead alive and well! Recently in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, a grandmother brought her teenage granddaughter to abort her great-granddaughter. "[The grandmother] told me she had prayed, and God sent her here with her granddaughter," reported Carole, who quickly set the record straight. "You know that wasn't God who sent you here," she said. "That was the devil." Grandma turned the car around and headed for the abortion facility parking lot exit... ...but not before she stopped to confirm that her granddaughter would not have an abortion. "I know it wasn't you talking to me, but it was the Lord," the grandmother said. "We're going to have this baby." The day got off to a rough start when an angry woman knocked down three pro-life signs before spitting on the driver of an ultrasound van. Maybe the evil one was trying to discourage prayer warriors before they could save one of God's precious children from abortion. "The devil is very angry when he loses," said longtime Cherry Hill 40 Days for Life leader Claire. "It seems to me he was showing his anger today." Cherry Hill is one of dozens of cities that continue to stand vigil through our 40 Days for Life 365 initiative. To keep saving lives, find the campaign nearest you, and sign up to pray: 40daysforlife.com/365 Glendale, Arizona Tammy in Glendale held a candlelight vigil featuring the leader of an area Students for Life group and a theology professor. In addition to the dozens of prayer warriors who attended, two passersby stopped to join the prayers. Best of all, the campaign team knows of two moms and babies saved from abortion through their peaceful presence! Medellin, Colombia A 40 Days for Life team member in Medellin noticed her teenage coworker looking sad. The young woman was pregnant, but her child's father was pressuring her into an abortion. The local campaign leader accompanied the expectant mother to a pregnancy help center, and the young mom chose life. The woman's mother, who was with her, was moved to tears upon learning that her grandchild had been spared from abortion! Sarasota, Florida Prayer warriors in southeast Florida spoke to a couple for at least 15 minutes on their way in to Planned Parenthood. They re-emerged with an ultrasound printout in hand and an announcement that they were keeping their baby! Den Bosch, the Netherlands An abortion-minded mother expecting her fourth child learned that her baby was eight weeks old--more than she expected--and spoke with 40 Days for Life participants. The discussion talked her out of having the abortion! "The father thanked God for the presence of the vigil volunteers," said 40 Days for Life director of international campaigns Robert Colquhoun. On this rock I will build my church; the gates of hell will not prevail against it. --Matthew 16:18 Father, we have done battle with the power of evil, and therefore we can have compassion on those still within its grip. We have been freed from the kingdom of darkness, and therefore we can bear witness to your kingdom of light. May the witness of all your people through these 40 Days for Life bear abundant fruit.
