The situation in the Gaza humanitarian crisis continues to deteriorate. Famine, violence, and shortages of medicines and clean water threaten the lives of women and girls. Millions have been displaced and  are sleeping in the open, with no means of protection.

Most health facilities are at imminent risk of running out of fuel. The lack of fuel has triggered widespread equipment and telecommunications failures, severing hotlines for survivors. They are now even more isolated, invisible in a collapsing protection system where making even remote case management is unfeasible. 

Case workers at UNFPA safe spaces continue to do all they can to deliver crucial care to the most vulnerable.

Salma, a dedicated mother of four and a case manager in Khan Younis, stressed the need for continuation of these services. "We feel the urgent needs of women and recognize the importance of supporting them. A small effort can make a big difference in their lives.

Dignity Kits and vital supplies are currently depleted and UNFPA safe spaces have been forced to shut down, with the remaining few at very limited capacity. Despite continuing hostilities and their own displacement, case workers like Asmaa are still providing lifesaving services and dignity to survivors in Gaza. Essential equipment and files have been lost so they must re-establish services from scratch in impossible circumstances.

“Despite all the difficulties, I continue to support abused women and girls,” Asmaa, who has been forced to move 10 times since the war began, told us. 

“I feel a deep sense of empathy for every case I support. I fully understand the pain of need, hunger and repeated displacement.”
