Why we are 350: Scientists overwhelmingly agree that 350ppm CO2 is the upper limit to sustain life as humans have lived it. For more than 800,000 years atmospheric CO2 varied between roughly 180 to 280ppm.

   Our Earth passed 350ppm CO2 during 1988!

Mauna Loa Observatory - We are now approaching 430ppm!
On many days we're up 1.6 to 2.5ppm from last year

Climate and Democracy:
A Strategic Framework and Discussion

Please join us on Monday November 3, 2025, to discuss organizing strategies — from defending democracy to advocating for our climate.

Our sense of urgency about the climate is now matched or even exceeded by our sense of urgency about our democracy. A growing movement led by Indivisible and other organizations is training hundreds of thousands of people in how to resist authoritarian takeover. Find out what they are teaching and be part of brainstorming how we can use these approaches in climate activism. Come prepared to take what you know already, get a framework for thinking strategically, and participate in conversations that generate ideas for moving forward.

WHAT: 350 Wisconsin Monthly Meeting
WHEN: Monday, November 3, 7:00–8:10 pm
ONLINE VIA ZOOM: Register in advance for the meeting here.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting via computer, tablet, or smartphone.

About Madeleine: Madeleine Para retired two years ago as president of the national organization Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL). She remains committed to empowering people from all walks of life to be effective climate advocates, and to building support in our government and communities for effective solutions to the climate problem. She was a co-founder of 350 Madison (now 350 Wisconsin) and participated in the 2011 wave of civil disobedience against the Keystone Pipeline. In her first year of retirement, she organized the Wisconsin Climate Voter project with CCL volunteers all across the state. Together, they sent out more than 40,000 postcards, phonebanked thousands, and talked to everyone they knew about the importance of voting in the 2024 election. This year, Madeleine has focused her organizing energy on growing a national and local resistance movement.

We look forward to seeing you on November 3 — and save the date for our Volunteer Recognition on December 1!
