Email from New York City Council- District 18 Election Day is Nov 4th and Your Neighborhood is on The Ballot     Dear Neighbor, As we move deeper into the fall season, our office continues to focus on connecting Bronx families to resources that make everyday life a little easier — from access to healthy foods and tenant support, to legal services and veterans’ benefits. This month, I’m also encouraging everyone to stay informed ahead of Election Day (November 4th). Important measures about our city’s land use process and future development are on the back of the ballot, and it is critical that Bronx residents understand what is at stake. I hope you’ll take a moment to read through, visit our Ballot Proposals Education Page, and join us at one of our upcoming community events. In Community, Hon. Amanda Farías Majority Leader Council Member, District 18   🌟 FEATURED 🌟   Election Day is November 4th! This TuesdayIn addition to voting for candidates this election, New Yorkers will be asked to flip the ballot to vote on several Charter Revision proposals that could reshape how land use and planning decisions are made. My office has created a Ballot Proposals Education Page to help you understand what’s on the ballot, what each proposal would do, and how it could affect local input in future projects across our borough. Photos From the Rally Federal SNAP Budget Cut Threats A federal court has ruled that the government must release contingency funds to keep SNAP running, after action led by Attorney General Letitia James and 25 states. Still, more than 1.7 million New Yorkers rely on SNAP to eat — and many can’t wait for federal relief to reach them. That’s why I’m sharing a list of food pantries and community centers in District 18. Click below to explore available resources on my website. Food is not expendable. It’s a right. A true Bronx moment filled with joy, connection, and community! 📸 Photos from the Event 2025 Fall Festival From the pumpkin patch and haunted obstacle course to the double giant slide, airbrush tattoos, and face painting, the park was alive with laughter and excitement. Kids picked from over 30 small pumpkins delivered by GrowNYC, snacked on fresh apples and peaches, and enjoyed mini doughnuts, popcorn, and snow cones all afternoon. Events like this take a village — and I’m so grateful to every partner, volunteer, staff member, and city agency who helped make this day one for the books! 📸 Photos from the Event 🔎 PUBLIC PROGRAMS & BENEFITS NYC Job Fair November 12th | 10am - 2pm SERVICES AVAILABLE: Opportunities to work for the City of New York and private employers Onsite interviews with select employers Access to workforce development trainings and programs Connections to resources and benefits Learn More → Free Museum Memberships for SNAP Recipients SNAP recipients in New York can now enjoy free membership to the American Museum of Natural History — including FREE admission for up to four guests.
