Team,

Right now, the fair maps movement is in court, fighting the gerrymandered map that Texas Republicans forced through at the behest of Donald Trump.

And for good reason. A new analysis finds that their map is a “statistical outlier” and that the architects of this map intentionally drew it along racial lines.

This shameful strategy — known as “cracking and packing” — is designed to intentionally push voters of color into one district to dilute their votes and minimize their voting power. It’s a tactic that’s been used to deprive voters of color of their voice since the Jim Crow era.

While craven politicians draw lines to protect their power, something else is happening: Across the country, voters are drawing their own lines in the sand to fight for transparency and fairness in our democracy.

The NDRC is fighting back in battleground states to fight for fair representation. But the truth is, our resources are stretched thin considering how frequently our democracy is under attack this year. Please, chip in with a donation of $30 or whatever you can to power this work fighting for a democracy we all deserve. [[link removed]]
