Because of people like you, churches are being protected—praise God!

Dear John,

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to put government officials to the test.

And sadly, some are failing when it comes to upholding your constitutional rights.

In America, the government can’t treat churches and people of faith as second-class citizens. The First Amendment makes that clear.

But while reopening the country, some government officials continue to discriminate against churches and threaten the free exercise of religion.

Thankfully, over the past few months, people like you have shown incredible generosity in defending churches and people of faith. And because of this quick action, more of your brothers and sisters in Christ are getting the help they need. Praise God!

In just a few months, this generosity has helped secure 14 legal victories on behalf of churches and religious ministries—from as far east as Massachusetts, New York, and North Carolina, to the western shores of Oregon and Washington.

While many other ADF cases spend years in litigation, these ministries needed quick and immediate relief. Every day is critical for churches as they work to reach the lost and share the hope of the Gospel during this challenging time. Thank you for keeping them in your prayers, John.

Unfortunately, there’s still a lot of work to do.

We continue to see some government officials denying churches equal treatment and threatening religious freedom.

In Nevada, casinos, restaurants, bars, amusement parks, and other close-contact businesses are free to open at 50 percent capacity. But if you are a church and operating under social-distancing guidelines, you are limited to only 50 people!

In Washington state, churches face gathering restrictions not placed on restaurants, cannabis retailers, breweries, and union operations, which the governor has deemed “essential.” In fact, the governor has publicly labeled spiritual gatherings as “COVID-19 ‘superspreader’ events,” further stigmatizing churches and people of faith.

Already, the ADF Church Alliance has advised, or equipped others to advise, more than 3,000 churches and ministries throughout the nation on COVID-19 related issues. And the calls keep on coming.

ADF attorneys are working to ensure that churches get the legal help they need. But their work isn’t possible without God’s blessing (John 15:5) and people like you.

Will you chip in with a gift today?

Every dollar makes a difference for the freedom of churches.

Thank you for your prayers and support, John.

Your generosity helps protect churches from becoming victims of government overreach now—and in the future.
