SNAP funding was set to run out today because Donald Trump refused to release already-approved emergency funds to keep families fed. Fortunately, a federal judge ruled yesterday that his administration must release the money immediately. Trump has not indicated whether he will follow the court’s decision. For years, Republicans have attacked programs like SNAP to fund tax breaks for billionaires. Now, Trump is weaponizing hunger to protect the wealthy few while working families are left to fend for themselves.
