This is Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick with your weekly update from South Florida.

We are now in Week 4 of the reckless Republican shutdown. While some in Congress continue to play political games, I am focused on what truly matters: reopening the government, standing with unpaid public servants, and ensuring your voice is heard.

I am also fighting to protect and expand access to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and SNAP benefits, because no family should have to choose between health care and putting food on the table. At the same time, I am pushing back against unfair, gerrymandered maps that allow extremists to ignore the will of the people and keep Washington in crisis. It’s time to fix the system and return power to you.

I didn’t come to Congress to take breaks or score political points. I came to deliver for South Florida, and I will continue to fight for the workers, families, and communities who make this country run.
