Contact Me Here Joining House Leadership and New York Colleagues on Day 30 of the Democrat Shutdown I joined House Leadership and my New York Republican colleagues to mark Day 30 of the Democrat-led shutdown and call on Senator Chuck Schumer and Congressman Hakeem Jeffries to stop appeasing the radical left and reopen the government. This crisis was entirely avoidable. Instead of working with Republicans to pass a clean funding bill, Democrat leaders chose politics over people, leaving millions of Americans without paychecks, food assistance, or access to essential services. The American people deserve better than chaos and weak leadership. Schumer and Jeffries have surrendered to the far-left activists who now control their party, prioritizing ideology over families, small businesses, and our troops. I will continue standing up for the hardworking men and women who build, farm, serve, and raise families across Upstate New York. It’s time to reopen the government, restore stability, and put American families first. Watch the full remarks here. Affirming Israel’s Sovereignty Over the Temple Mount and Supporting Religious Freedom for All This week, I introduced a resolution reaffirming Israel’s sovereignty over the Temple Mount and calling for equal access and religious freedom for Christians, Muslims, and the Jewish people at one of the world’s most sacred sites. The Temple Mount is the holiest site in Judaism and a place of deep significance for all three Abrahamic faiths. My resolution recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s undivided capital, reaffirms Israel’s 3,000-year connection to this holy site, and condemns ongoing international efforts to erase that history or impose double standards on access and prayer. For generations, Israel has ensured that people of all faiths can visit and worship at their sacred sites, a freedom that remains rare across much of the Middle East. Yet Christians and Jews still face restrictions on prayer and access at the Temple Mount. My resolution makes clear that America stands firmly with our strongest ally, supports true religious equality, and defends the freedom of worship for all who seek peace in the Holy Land. Royalton-Hartland Schools Receives $235,991 Federal Grant The Royalton-Hartland Central School District will receive a $235,991 federal grant to strengthen school safety and security for more than 1,100 students and 230 staff members. This funding will support important upgrades to safety infrastructure, including new communication systems, panic buttons, remote lockdown capabilities, and expanded camera coverage, all in partnership with the Middleport Police Department. These improvements will enhance coordination with law enforcement, close existing coverage gaps, and ensure a safer learning environment for every student and educator. The safety of our students is always a top priority, and I was honored to support this critical project to protect families and schools across our community. As your representative in Congress, my top priority is championing legislative initiatives that benefit you and your families. Each week, I review numerous bills and letters, engaging in thorough discussions with members of our community to determine which actions to support and address your needs. Below are a few bills I recently cosponsored. H.R. 3699, the Energy Choice Act: This bill would prohibit states or local governments from banning specific energy sources and allow Americans to choose their preferred energy source. Democratic-controlled states like New York are waging an all-out attack on domestic energy production, killing American jobs and leading to increased energy prices. To achieve true energy independence, we must ensure Americans have access to a full range of options, including natural gas. H.R. 45, the FIND Act: This bill would prohibit the federal government from entering into contracts with organizations that discriminate against firearm trade associations or businesses that sell firearms. Specifically, awarded federal contracts would require an entity to have written certification that it does not discriminate against firearm organizations. This bill protects taxpayer dollars from politicalization by ensuring that corporations don't benefit from federal contracts and subcontracts that unfairly discriminate against the firearm industry. H.R. 377, the Regulation Reduction Act of 2025: This bill would prohibit a federal agency from issuing a new rule unless it repeals three or more related rules and publishes the repeal to the Federal Register. Additionally, each federal agency would be required to report to Congress a review of each rule it repealed and to identify whether each rule was costly, ineffective, duplicative, or outdated. While President Trump works with Congress to rein in the federal bureaucracy, this legislation ensures that overburdensome regulations are continuously reduced while protecting critical programs. Dolomite Group Tour It was a pleasure to visit the Dolomite Group’s facility in the Town of Manchester to meet with company leaders, local officials, and highway superintendents from Ontario County and the Town of Canandaigua. The Dolomite Group, a CRH company, operates five locations across our region and plays a key role in sourcing stone and asphalt for major infrastructure projects, including improvements along Route 332 and the I-90 corridor in Victor. During the visit, we toured the quarry, discussed ongoing transportation investments, and highlighted the importance of supporting New York’s construction and materials industry. Companies like Dolomite are essential partners in strengthening our roads, creating good-paying jobs, and driving economic growth across Upstate communities. Ribbon Cutting for "In A Pickle" Our team joined the Ontario County Chamber of Commerce and local leaders for the ribbon cutting of the new "In a Pickle” pickleball courts in the Town of Canandaigua, where we were pleased to present a congressional certificate to owner Floyd Rayburn. This exciting addition reflects the town’s ongoing commitment to recreation, community, and healthy living. Pickleball has become one of America’s fastest-growing sports, bringing people of all ages together for fitness and fun. These new courts are a great example of how collaboration between small businesses and community partners keeps our region vibrant and active. 50th Anniversary of Photography by Sjoblom It was an honor for our team to participate in Discover Seneca's celebration of the 50th anniversary of Photography by Sjoblom in the City of Geneva. This milestone reflects decades of creativity, community spirit, and small business excellence in the Finger Lakes region. During the ceremony, we had the privilege of presenting a congressional certificate recognizing the Sjoblom family’s lasting contributions to our local economy and arts community. Small businesses like Photography by Sjoblom are the heart of Upstate New York, enriching the character of our communities. Need Help with a Federal Agency? Call us today.
