TX-30 Updates

It’s been over a month since Trump and Republicans shut down the federal government, and they still haven’t called the House back to work. Real families are feeling real pain, and they are still on vacation. Although today is Halloween, nothing is scarier than elected officials who would rather watch people go hungry than do their jobs.

This shutdown isn’t just politics; it has real consequences. From delayed services and stalled benefits to federal employees missing paychecks, families in our district and across the country are feeling the strain.

I came to Congress to work for you, not to watch people suffer while others play games with your livelihood. That’s why my team and I are staying on the job and doing everything we can to support you through this moment.

My office is open and available to assist you. If you need assistance, you can call my Dallas Office at (214) 922-8885 or my D.C. Office at (202) 225-8885

We are here to help you navigate federal services, answer questions, and make sure your voice is heard—especially during this shutdown.

Because of this shutdown, SNAP benefits for November will not be issued until the federal government reopens. Texas Health and Human Services (HHSC) will issue SNAP benefits as soon as it receives new federal guidance as a result of the government reopening.

In the meantime, if you still have October benefits on your Lone Star Card, you can continue to use them. If you are currently enrolled in SNAP, please keep renewing your application and responding to any messages from Texas Health and Human Services so your benefits stay active.

If you need to apply for SNAP, still apply. We want you to be ready the second benefits resume.

I know this is stressful. Putting food on the table should never be a question in the United States of America—especially not because Republicans refuse to do their jobs. My office is here to help you navigate resources and stay informed.

Updates from D.C.

A shutdown doesn't shut down my commitment to you. While Republicans chose to take a vacation, I have remained on the job—fighting for you, pushing for real solutions, and holding this Administration accountable every single day.

Over the past few weeks, I have continued introducing legislation, advocating for federal workers and working families, and making sure our district’s priorities are front and center in Washington.

The HELP FEDs Act

Federal employees have faced unprecedented challenges over the last ten months—and now, during this shutdown, many are working without pay or furloughed entirely.

I introduced the HELP FEDs Act to ensure that these workers aren’t penalized with student loan fees, defaults, or credit damage for missed payments they simply can’t make.

The No Presidential Payouts Act

Taxpayers don’t owe Donald Trump a dime for his legal battles. While he’s trying to get $230 million from the federal government to pay his own lawyers, families across this country are struggling to keep up with grocery bills and rent.

That’s why I introduced the No Presidential Payouts Act—because your tax dollars should serve the people, not protect a President’s pocket.
