UNFPA’s fleet of motorbike ambulances — fueled by generous donors like you — reaches women and girls in need where many others can't.

From remote villages across Ukraine to shelled roads throughout Gaza, our skilled mobile healthcare teams can access the hardest-to-reach areas to deliver lifesaving care that women, girls, and expectant mothers depend on.

Ambulance operator Mark is determined to help mothers deliver safely.

“In the past, women have given birth on the roadside while trekking to hospital because they live too far from a health facility,” Mark, a UNFPA ambulance driver in rural Benin, told us.

Our fleet of ambulances has significantly reduced the time required to deliver essential and urgent medical assistance to local communities. In one month, Mark has safely transported five women with obstetric emergencies to the hospital, likely saving their lives and those of their newborns.

“With the motorcycle ambulance, even if a woman delivers on the way, she is able to do so in a dignified manner, on a comfortable stretcher and with the help of a healthcare worker and myself.”
