Dear neighbor,

We have now reached a full month of this shutdown. Republicans still refuse to get back to work to save healthcare for millions of Americans. And, as we head into November, SNAP benefits will not go out for the first time in recent history. 42 million Americans will not see the benefits they rely on to buy groceries and put food on the table because Donald Trump refused to release the contingency funds to states.

This may be the scariest Halloween in American history. From ripping healthcare away and skyrocketing costs to making hard-working families go hungry, Republicans have created a truly frightening nightmare in America.

Rep. Cisneros Wants to know...
SNAP benefits (CalFresh) will not go out for the month of November, which means 5.5 million Californians will not receive their benefits. Are you concerned about how this may impact your family, your community, and your local food banks?

Regardless of a government shutdown, my office will be open to assist you. If you need assistance, please reach out to us at (626) 646-0369. Go to my website for an updated list of the federal services impacted by the government shutdown.

This week, I joined the New Democrat Coalition on their Fly In Podcast with Reps. Veasey and Landsman. We discussed this Republican shutdown, soaring healthcare costs, Trump’s latest, and more. Watch it here.

Tomorrow, instead of receiving their SNAP benefits for the month of November, families across America are going to go hungry. Why? Because Donald Trump refused to release the contingency funds that would allow benefits to go out. Americans are going to suffer and children will go hungry from the direct actions of this administration. This is unacceptable.

Wishing everyone a happy Halloween tonight! Whether you’re out trick-or-treating or spending time with friends and family, enjoy the holiday and stay safe.

Tomorrow, we will celebrate Día de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead, to share the memories of our loved ones and pay respect to our ancestors. Wishing everyone in CA-31 a peaceful Día de los Muertos surrounded and comforted by your friends, family, and community.

Congratulations to the San Gabriel Valley Water Company on their new Plant B6 UVFlex Treatment System Project in Baldwin Park! This upgrade will improve efforts to remove harmful chemicals and carcinogens in water used for drinking and everyday use. It’s a remarkable investment in treating groundwater contamination for our community.
