Green Party Seeking 2026 Candidates

Pennsylvania elections are organized around an annual calendar: even years are devoted to the election of candidates for state and national offices while odd years are devoted to local elections. During 2026 PA voters will elect state and national officials, while they will elect local and county officials in 2027.

Offices to be elected during 2026 will include a PA governor, auditor general and treasurer. Also 17 members of the U.S. House of Representatives will be elected, as well as 25 PA Senators and 203 members of the PA House of Representatives.

Offices to be elected during 2027 will include city, borough and township offices such as mayor, supervisor, auditor, sheriff and tax collector. Also county officials will be elected, such as commissioner and auditor.

The primary election each year is only used by the Republican and Democratic Parties to choose their candidates. Members of other parties (Green Party, Libertarian, Constitution, etc.) and non-party members (aka “independents”) may not vote in the Primary Election. The Green Party’s chance to run candidates takes place each year in the General Election in November.

Former Chair of GPPA Beth Scroggin (Chester County) once said, “If you would like to see Green Party values represented in your town, in our state, and in the conversation surrounding election season, we implore you to consider running for office as a Green Party candidate . . . . You may run locally for the PA General Assembly or for a state-wide office, including Governor, Lieutenant Governor, or U.S. Representative. Running strong candidates is the most important work of the Green Party. I am grateful for all who have run with us and am eager for you to join us.”

The Green Party is seeking party members who are interested in becoming candidates for electoral office in 2026 and 2027. For more information, please contact GREEN STAR at [email protected] <mailto:[email protected].>
