Hi John,
Happy Halloween from myself and everyone at Leaders We Deserve! I know you’ve got costumes to get ready, candy to pass out, and plans for the night, so I’ll get right to it:
Our end-of-month fundraising deadline is at midnight, and we’re so close to hitting it — but we aren’t there yet. We need your help to close the gap before midnight so we can win next Tuesday, power our movement, and 👻scare👻 the establishment. Will you contribute $5 or anything you can now?
Missing tonight’s goal would be scary. But do you know what’s even scarier?
If nothing changes, the same political establishment that has ignored young people on climate, housing, gun violence, and affordability will keep deciding our future for the next 30+ years. There might be different names in charge (or an 80-year-old Ted Cruz… now that’s frightening!) but it’ll be the same agenda: protect incumbents, serve billionaire donors, and leave young people behind.
But that future is not inevitable. Not if we do something about it right now.
Leaders We Deserve exists to build a new generation of young, progressive leaders from real communities — people who will fight for our future. And it’s working — we’re already winning races, shifting power, and creating change.
But right now, we’re at a critical crossroads, and we’re at risk of missing tonight’s fundraising goal.
Falling short means fewer resources to help our candidates win, right before key elections next week.
If supporters like you step up before midnight, we’ll hit this goal and win next Tuesday. And for once, it’ll be the political establishment that’s spooked, not us.
So if you’re tired of the same old political horror story, this is our chance to rewrite how it ends.
We deserve a future to look forward to, not one we’re scared of.
Thank you for helping us build something better. Now I’m signing off for the night because I can hear the Trick or Treat mob heading towards my house. Those kids know I’m always stocked with the full size candy bars! 🍫🍫 (Yes, I do that. And yes, it's not cheap. But the look on their faces is so worth it. I now get to be the kind of house I used to walk a mile to every Halloween growing up just to get 1 full size candy bar. Also, I’m carving a pumpkin I grew and am calling it James Carville.)
Happy Halloween,
David
