Dear Friend --

Many Long Beach residents are struggling with food insecurity right now. With unemployment hitting every community in America, it’s crucial we support our most vulnerable neighbors.

To help those in need, we are hosting a Drive-Thru Food Giveaway on Friday, July 17 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Long Beach City College, Pacific Coast Campus. If you or your family need a few extra groceries please stop by and pick up some food. It’s important no one goes hungry.

I want to thank our partners, Supervisor Janice Hahn and the County of Los Angeles, Long Beach City College, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor. We could not have done this without them.

$3 million for Food Security & Restaurants

Our food drives are in addition to the $3 million I’ve proposed to support additional food distribution events, restaurants, and meals for seniors. We’ve had great success with similar programs over the past several months, including the amazing work of World Central Kitchen in partnership with Lola’s, The Ordinarie and Breakfast Bar.

The additional $3 million will bring in numerous additional restaurants into our food programs to support them and the workers.

I’m proud that Long Beach in Los Angeles County continues to lead our COVID response with compassion and commitment. We will continue working hard to ensure no one is hungry in this community.

Go Long Beach,

Mayor Robert Garcia
