Republican leaders in Texas, Missouri, North Carolina, and other red states are redrawing their congressional maps at Donald Trump’s command. It is a deliberate attempt to rig the system, hold on to power, and avoid being held accountable by voters.

They know Trump’s agenda is unpopular. So instead of winning over voters, they are changing the rules to entrench their power.

California is fighting back. We are responding with Prop 50, a ballot measure that restores fairness and protects our democracy. I support this effort, even though it means running in a more competitive district.
