As you know, today is day 31 of the unnecessary and completely avoidable government shutdown, and every day that passes gets worse for the American people.

Today, air traffic controllers, TSA agents, border patrol agents, ICE officers, park rangers, and other federal workers missed a paycheck. The SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Program, and Head Start face imminent funding lapses. Yet, Senate Democrats continue voting to keep the government shut down — prolonging the pain felt by millions of families, children, and workers.

Reminder: I voted to avoid this situation with a bipartisan continuing resolution (CR) on September 19th, but unfortunately, Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats continue to hold the federal government hostage. If you or someone you know needs food assistance, you can visit Feeding Georgia's website HERE to find a food bank near you.

Don't forget what this is all about for Democrats: political posturing to appease the radical flank of their party.

Donating Food at Golden Harvest

Golden Harvest Food Bank in Augusta is doing tremendous work to assist neighbors and communities in the CSRA by providing nutritious food resources to those in need. Yesterday, I stopped by to donate a variety of food items and thank the leadership team and volunteers for their service as they brace for a surge in demand due to this harmful government shutdown.

Senate Democrats have wasted far too much time on their political games as American families pay the price.

Thanking our Airport Workers and Commissioners

I also visited Augusta Regional Airport to thank some of our dedicated airport workers and commissioners who continue to keep travelers safe and on time, despite many of them unneccessarily missing paychecks today.

Touring the New City Hall in Warrenton

In Warrenton, I toured the new City Hall building with Mayor Janice Thigpen and other local leaders. I also took the time to thank a few of the volunteer workers who were on the job. The new City Hall will soon house employees and facilities ready to serve the community.

Catching up with Glascock County Commissioners

I visited with several county commissioners in Gibson to hear an update on some of the issues facing Glascock County and how the Schumer Shutdown is negatively affecting the community. We also discussed FEMA reimbursements from Hurricane Helene's devastation.

Visiting Accelerate Augusta

Accelerate Augusta is the premier accelerator and incubator dedicated to fueling small business growth and entrepreneurial success throughout the CSRA region.

I enjoyed stopping by earlier this week to learn more about their work to help students, professionals, and small business owners innovate and grow for the future.

Touring Via Cognitive Health

Via Cognitive Health in Richmond County is a local, non-profit organization that offers industry-leading brain health programming, community education, and support to those facing early to middle-stage cognitive decline and disease.

Robin and I toured the facility yesterday and spoke to several patients about the top-notch care provided to those experiencing cognitive decline. Thanks for having us!
