John, this is Sharice Davids. Extreme Republicans in the Kansas legislature just traveled to Washington this month to speak directly with Donald Trump. His orders? Gerrymandering me out of office. Please, can you chip in a split donation between the Kansas Democratic Party and my campaign to make sure Trump doesn’t turn Kansas into a one-party state?

There are two very different kinds of politicians in our government right now: The ones who treat elected office like a job—and the ones who treat it like an audition.

I’m proud to be part of the first category, John. For years, I’ve worked hard in Congress to ignore all the DC distractions and make progress on the issues that matter most.

But today, far too many politicians belong to the other category. Instead of placing their constituents’ needs first, they’re more interested in proving their loyalty to Donald Trump.

And that’s exactly what’s happening right now in the Kansas legislature. Instead of lowering costs and helping families pay their bills, Republican politicians in Topeka are focused on one thing, and one thing only: Kicking me out of office—all because Donald Trump told them to.

But John, I’m not going down without a fight.

I don’t care how many Republican politicians stand in my way. Whether it’s dozens of Republican politicians or the President himself, I won’t stop working to make sure Kansans’ voices are heard — but I need you by my side. Please, can you chip in a split donation before midnight to help me keep fighting back against Trump’s gerrymander?

With gratitude,
Sharice
