Email from Organization Name millions of families across the nation will be faced with an unthinkable dilemma: How will I feed my family next week? John, As the government shutdown enters its fifth week, a crisis is looming. While federal workers are still struggling to put food on the table as they miss paychecks, Trump and MAGA are about to force even more people to go hungry—all because of their cruel refusal to fund the government. Here in Illinois, the Department of Human Services has warned that SNAP benefits will end for nearly 2 million people as early as tomorrow. That means millions of families will be faced with an unthinkable dilemma: How will I feed my family next week? During this crisis, it’s up to our community to band together and ensure our neighbors don’t go hungry. Local food banks and pantries are already reporting rising demand as families brace for potential cuts, and are in desperate need of donations. As someone who has been working with local food parties to host annual service projects over the last 10 years, this issue is deeply personal to me. That is why our campaign is announcing our Food and Good Drive. For the foreseeable future, our campaign headquarters will serve as a drop-off site for food and goods to help feed and care for our neighbors. Any items donated at our headquarters will be distributed to trusted partners. You can also donate directly to them at one of the following locations: The items listed are among the least common to be donated but that people are in most need of. If you’re able, please consider donating or volunteering with one of these trusted partners. Every dollar and every volunteer hour matters. These organizations embody what our campaign stands for: that food is a human right — not a privilege, not a partisan issue, but a moral imperative. If you are not located in the Chicago area or Illinois, please consider a donation to your local food bank: Find your local food bank Let’s meet this moment with compassion and action. Until Washington finds its conscience, let’s make sure our neighbors don’t go hungry.
