A National Survey Shows A Lot of Dissatisfaction
As we approach the one-year mark before the 2026 midterm elections, a new Pew Research Center survey paints a stark picture of public disillusionment with both major political parties. The study shows that a pretty big group of voters feel that neither Republicans nor Democrats are viewed as offering compelling ideas or governing with integrity. Majorities see both as too extreme—61 percent for the GOP and 57 percent for Democrats—with only 39 percent describing Republicans as ethical and honest, compared to 42 percent for Democrats.
Just 36 percent of Americans feel hopeful about the Republican Party, while only 28 percent express the same sentiment about the Democrats. Frustration is widespread, with 49 percent saying each party makes them angry. Weighted results suggest an electorate hungry for accountability and restraint in governance.
