I run this campaign a lot differently than most. Since I first put my hat in the ring to flip CA-49 back in 2017, I’ve refused all corporate PAC money. At the time, many political operatives told me I’d have to “play ball” in order to win – by taking large special interest money.

Of course, I refused. Even as our re-election battles become closer and more competitive, I’ve never regretted my decision.

I’m in Congress to serve the people I swore to represent – not to appease billionaire donors or special interests. Corporations already have an outsized amount of influence in our politics.

That’s why I’m so proud that this campaign is built by small-dollar donations from folks who support the work to safeguard our democracy, fight for affordable healthcare, and protect our environment and veterans.
