Today, much of America celebrates Halloween.
While most folks do so innocuously – our church held an outreach-oriented Trunk-or-Treat on Wednesday (I attended as Aquaman) – the “holiday” often wrongly celebrates the darkness, the ghoulish, and the hellish.
These things are odd to celebrate for many reasons. The most obvious reason, though, is quite simple: the darkness lost, is losing, and will lose. Whether “powers of hell” or “schemes of man,” every endeavor of evil will fail to accomplish its goal.
Our God is too big, too good, and too victorious for anything the Enemy desires to ultimately come into its grasp.
The Enemy has certainly targeted this ministry. The Left hates us. We have constant threats from the outside, and there’s a real spiritual warfare to what we face. Even some who were supposed to partner with and support this ministry have been used by the Enemy in an all-out attack to try to stop the good work being done by this organization.
By God’s grace, we are still standing, stronger than ever, and committed to victory.
The Enemy sought to silence a rising voice in Charlie Kirk. Seeing a growing movement of young people led by an incredibly bright and articulate leader, the Left was angry about his influence and impact. A crazed gunman murdered him in response, used by the Enemy to bring down what he saw as a great threat.
By God’s grace – while we mourn Charlie Kirk – an explosion of Gospel presentations has occurred, countless people have committed to doing their part to preserving and expanding Charlie’s impact, and the schemes of the Enemy have backfired.
Throughout time, this is the pattern we see. Martin Luther was silenced and excommunicated. Martin Luther King was assassinated. The King of England tightened his grip on the colonies. Each scheme of the Enemy failed and was, instead, used by God to result in Gospel proclamation, a greater recognition of human rights, and the birth of a great nation.
The greatest example, of course, is Jesus Christ, whose heel was bitten yet crushed the Enemy – dealing a deathblow to the darkness and securing lasting victory for Himself, a new world, and life everlasting for those He claims.
So why – given Scripture, history, and our own personal experience – do we ever experience fear of the darkness?
Fear, trepidation, and anxiety all persist within our country, our movement, and the Church. Even when discussing the future of our state, upcoming elections, and whether we can preserve what we’ve gained here in Georgia, I catch myself and others speaking with fear and nervousness.
How foolish!
While God does not promise victories for all our short-term goals, we serve a King who is good, powerful, and enthroned. No plans against Him or His people will ultimately succeed, and the story He writes will be far better than what we could imagine for ourselves.
That’s why, I hope, Frontline never sounds like just another political organization. Instead, we communicate with hope, with confidence, with urgency for a great mission, yet with great peace over the will of the King.
