This past Sunday evening, October 26th, the Edward M. Kennedy Institute hosted a sold-out and unforgettable 10th Anniversary Celebration honoring President Joseph R. Biden Jr., Labor Secretary Martin J. Walsh, and Ret. Admiral Lisa Franchetti.

The atmosphere was electric. Guests left inspired and energized by the Institute’s impact over the past decade—and by the shared sense of purpose that filled the room. Together, we reflected on ten remarkable years of helping tens of thousands of young people experience our nation’s democratic process first-hand through immersive civics programs. The excitement and optimism for what comes next were palpable.

As President Biden said in his remarks, “That’s why the work of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute is so important. Teaching young people how to fight for, strengthen, and cherish the institutions that make our democracy literally a beacon for the world.”

Looking ahead, we’re eager to build on this momentum. Our next chapter will grow our national impact in civic education and expand efforts to help leaders and citizens alike find common ground and ensure that our governing institutions remain strong, trusted, and effective. Encouraging thoughtful dialogue and shared understanding has always been at the heart of our mission—and it’s never been more important.
