#Fight4HER's Repro Rundown
Hello friend,
This Halloween, there’s nothing scarier than reality. From the elimination of US global health funding to the reported impending expansion of the Global Gag Rule, millions of people around the world have seen their health and lives threatened by real-life slashers in Washington.
Time is now running out on the nearly $10 million worth of contraceptives that continue to languish in a Belgian warehouse. As a reminder, these are contraceptives that have already been purchased by US taxpayers, and that were intended to aid millions of people in low-income countries facing an unmet need for contraception. Governments and organizations have offered to distribute these supplies for the US or to purchase them outright, but the State Department has refused each of these offers.
While the administration’s plan to incinerate these essential commodities is being held up thanks to local Belgian law, these life-saving supplies are facing another fast-approaching danger: time.
The Trump administration is intentionally running out the clock on the expiration dates of these medications. By simply doing nothing, the administration is able to exploit import rules to maliciously claim regulatory compliance in destroying them.
In Tanzania, which was supposed to receive the largest share, the stockpile reportedly represents 28% of the country’s annual need [[link removed]] . However, national policy says that medical products cannot be imported if less than 60% of the total shelf life remains. Some of the inventory will begin hitting that threshold in December [[link removed]] , and most will become too old by mid-2026.
Let’s be clear: Whether by incineration or expiration, the Trump administration intends to destroy nearly $10 million worth of desperately needed contraceptives. Their depraved misogyny runs so deep that they would rather waste taxpayer funds than help prevent unintended pregnancies, unsafe abortions, and needless maternal deaths.
The Saving Lives and Taxpayer Dollars Act would ensure that these supplies are distributed instead of being a symbol of callous waste. Please take action today and urge your members of Congress to co-sponsor the Saving Lives and Taxpayer Dollars Act.

Abortion
* Republicans are advancing the CARE Act in Wyoming, which would prevent regulation of anti-abortion crisis pregnancy centers that mislead and discourage people from accessing abortion or contraceptive care. ( ABC News, 10/24/25 [[link removed]] )
* Some good news: After pausing for nearly a month, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin is resuming abortion services. ( Associated Press, 10/27/25 [[link removed]] ) [[link removed]]
* In even better news, California announced a $140 million infusion to Planned Parenthood affiliates in the state to help keep clinics open in a response to the closure and imminent closure of several Planned Parenthood clinics this year due to loss of federal funding. ( SFGATE, 10/25/25 [[link removed]] )
* Anti-abortion groups lobbied against IVF treatments to the Trump administration, ensuring that no federal funding would support IVF and that employers would not be obligated to cover IVF in insurance coverage options. ( Politico, 10/25/25 [[link removed]] )
Domestic Health Care
* As a result of the so-called "Big Beautiful Bill" eliminating crucial health insurance subsidies on the federal marketplace, 17 million Americans will see premiums double or triple for 2026, unless Congress passes new legislation to fix it. ( The Washington Post, 10/24/25 [[link removed]] )
* In the wake of a mass firing at the HHS Office of Population Affairs, which administers the Title X Family Planning Program, America’s reproductive health safety net for low-income patients is collapsing. ( CBS News, 10/27/25 [[link removed]] )
* Texas is suing the makers of Tylenol, claiming they hid autism risks, in the wake of the Trump administration’s blatantly false claims that Tylenol usage during pregnancy causes autism. ( The New York Times, 10/28/25 [[link removed]] )
International Reproductive Health
* The US retreat from global health funding is leading to ripple effects around the world, from unintended pregnancies to disrupted infectious disease prevention and treatment, including for HIV. ( Ms. Magazine, 10/19/25 [[link removed]] )
* In Senegal, where USAID was responsible for most of the contraceptive supply chain, the lack of commodities is harming women and entire communities. ( The Guardian, 10/27/25 [[link removed]] )
* A rural shelter in Kenya is offering a safe space for girls fleeing female genital mutilation and other forms of gender-based violence. ( UNFPA, 10/28/25 [[link removed]] )
