Oklahoma,

It’s Day 31 of the Schumer Shutdown, and big consequences are ahead. Starting tomorrow, funding for essential programs like SNAP and WIC will dry up, and millions of Americans will likely struggle to feed their families. It’s sick. Why is this happening? Despite me and 54 other Senate colleagues voting 13 times to re-open the government, Congress still needs 5 more Senate Democrats to join us to turn the lights back on.

The Democrats are not only holding the American people hostage, they've resorted to taking the kitchen table hostage as well. Senate Democrats may be in lockstep with Democrat Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to harm the nation, but the Senate GOP stands lock, stock, and barrel with the White House to reopen the government and provide for the people.

The Senate Democrats may be able to stop us from funding the government, but there's nothing they can do to stop us from confirming President Trump’s America First, highly-qualified nominees. We've now effectively cleared the nominations backlog and have confirmed over 300 nominees. Before we changed the Senate rules to speed up the process (following Democrat precedent), the Senate was expected to spend 80% of our time this year on nominations. Now that we can expedite the process and confirm more Trump nominees in large batches, we can spend most of our time passing important legislation.

Chucky Schumer is a coward, but I'm telling y'all something you already knew. Every Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 am ET to 11:00 am ET, I have to listen to him cry, moan, and lie while I preside on the Senate floor. Yesterday, he decided to call President Trump a coward. Bold talk from someone afraid of a political challenge in New York from socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The reason for the government shutdown is not policy, it's politics.

Tomorrow is the 1st of November; it's also the first day without funding for incredibly important programs and the first missed paycheck for some federal employees. Unfortunately, due to the Democrats' hostage taking, I have the duty to inform you of which programs will be affected. The following programs are scheduled to have a lapse in funding:

     - Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)—which provides food assistance that more than 40 million people rely on—will start to run out of money Saturday. Resources on Government Shutdown frequently asked questions for SNAP recipients can be found HERE.

     -  Federal funding will stop for early childhood education programs at Head Start, which support 800,000 children under the age of six.

     -  The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will have a lapse in funding.

     - The Essential Air Service—which provides airline service to small and often rural communities—is scheduled to run out of money as well. This likely will have implications on service and commerce in their communities as well.

One of the most, if not the MOST, important goals I have in my time in office is to provide the best customer service imaginable. I want to communicate with you all in the most effective ways and find the best avenues to keep you updated on my work in Washington and in Oklahoma. That being said, we will be taking a brief pause from the newsletter during the month of November to transition to a new outreach service. You'll still be able to see my updates on social media (all accounts are linked below), contact my office for anything, and have an opportunity to make your voice heard. I look forward to reaching out to you in a new format in December. Thank you for understanding.

The Democrats aren't hiding how they feel about the American people; they're pretty open about the fact that they're using them as “leverage”—according to the #2 House Democrat, Rep. Katherine Clark. Tomorrow, that so-called leverage—42 million people—will struggle to feed their families until the government reopens. On Wednesday, I joined Fox News's Dana Perino and Bill Hemmer on America's Newsroom to unpack the fire Democrats are playing with and what effects this will have on the United States and Oklahoma.
