Day 31: Democrats Shut Down the Government – We’re Fighting Back.
Good afternoon,
The American people deserve a government that works for them, not one held hostage by political games. But once again, Democrats in Washington have chosen partisanship over patriotism, forcing a reckless and entirely avoidable government shutdown.
Let’s be clear: House and Senate Republicans did our job. We acted to fund the government and keep vital services running. Democrats refused — holding the process hostage with a $1.5 trillion wish list that has nothing to do with paying our troops, supporting our law enforcement, or keeping America safe.
Why? Because they hate President Trump more than they love this country.
Even with Republican control of the House and Senate, Democrats are using Senate rules to stall progress. It takes 60 votes to move funding through the Senate and with only 53 Republicans, the minority is using every trick in the book to block President Trump’s agenda and harm the American people in the process.
Meanwhile, real Americans are paying the price. Our law enforcement officers aren’t getting their paychecks. FEMA disaster response is frozen. Air travel is being disrupted. And instead of working with us to fix it, Democrats are doubling down on obstruction.
The administration led by Donald J. Trump has turned to an unconventional funding mechanism: tariff revenues.
* The White House says it will use tariff revenue to keep the Women, Infants & Children (WIC) Program running during the shutdown.
* The administration is also redirecting tariff revenue to ensure our troops are paid.

Here’s the truth:
This same temporary funding bill — the one Chuck Schumer himself voted for in March — was blocked by Democrats purely for political gain.
They refused to fund essential services because they wanted to use your taxpayer dollars to bankroll their far-left agenda:
* Taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal immigrants
* Keeping able-bodied, non-working adults on government healthcare
* A permanent extension of Biden’s pandemic-era Obamacare subsidies
* Slashing $50 billion from rural healthcare
They even tried to let the WIC program run dry to score political points — but President Trump stepped in, using tariff revenue to keep the program funded and make sure mothers and children get the support they need. That’s real leadership.
In Indiana’s 9th Congressional District (IN-09), more than 20,000 households—about 6.4% of all households—rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to put food on the table.
With the federal government shutdown dragging on, these families are facing a very real cliff: the federal agency announced that no SNAP benefits will be issued beginning November 1st unless funding is restored.
The American people shouldn’t suffer while the radical left plays politics.
The bottom line is simple: Democrats are putting power before people. They’ll stop at nothing to sabotage President Trump’s success and keep control of a broken system that serves Washington, not America.
We’re fighting back. With your help, we’re going to keep the House in 2026, expand our majority, and codify President Trump’s America First agenda into law.
