31 days. Democrats have officially held the American people and our government hostage for 31 days in a row over $1.5 trillion in radical demands. $1.5 trillion that will be added to the national debt. Every week, I’ve provided you an inside look at this entire situation – from laying out the facts to calling your attention to Democrats’ own words that expose their motives of shutting the government down. You know what they’ve been up to, and you know that their obstruction has inflicted serious pain upon hardworking Americans and families across the nation. I am sure you know that this week, Senate Democrats voted against the clean, nonpartisan, non-controversial Continuing Resolution (CR) for the 14th time. This was also the 14th time in a row that Democrats voted to deny funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) – yet they continue to claim that Republicans who voted in favor of the CR are the ones responsible for letting the funding for this program lapse. It’s important to note that funding for SNAP is ALREADY in the CR.
You may have seen this week that the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), a notably left-leaning union, urged that this clean, nonpartisan, non-controversial CR be passed without any further delay. Another union, New York City’s Steamfitters Local 638, urged the exact same thing – that the clean, nonpartisan, non-controversial CR be passed so that more pain is not inflicted upon the American people. In fact, hundreds of industry groups across vital issue areas such as agriculture, business, veteran support, and many others have joined in support of the House-passed CR. Here are just a few:
- The Airline Pilots Association, International.
- Associated Equipment Distributors.
- The Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association.
- The National Grocers Association.
- The National Association of Homebuilders.
Every day that this government shutdown continues, more pain is being inflicted upon the American people. As I have said previously, discussions and debate on health care reforms can take place after this CR is passed – not while the people’s government is being held at ransom. With bipartisan support continuing to be voiced in favor of this CR, it is long past time to pass it, reopen the government, and move forward. But when will Democrats listen?
A Piece of American History
On October 27, 1787, the opening essay of the Federalist Papers was published across newspapers in New York. The Federalist Papers were a collection of 85 separate essays penned by Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison. To conceal their identities, these three authors adopted the pseudonym of “Publius” – a reference to Publius Valerius Poplicola, a Roman aristocrat who helped overthrow the Roman monarchy in early 500 BC. Thanks, in part, to their writing of these essays, on July 26, 1788, New York became the 11th state to ratify the Constitution.

An Interesting Read
Radical ideologies have no place in the education – from K-12 to post-secondary education. This is one of many pressing issues within education that I have been very vocal about, and laser focused on, for many years. Recently, I came across a troubling article that details how socialist ideology has infiltrated the highest ranked elementary education program in the nation – it’s a warning sign that we should all heed. If colleges and universities are allowing these kinds of ideologies to be injected into the minds of America’s future educators, what does that say about the state of education in our nation today?
