I wanted to make sure you saw my earlier message — it’s an important update about what’s happening with SNAP benefits here in Pennsylvania. I’ve forwarded it below just in case.
Because of the ongoing GOP-Trump shutdown, nearly two million Pennsylvanians are at risk of missing their November SNAP payments — and that means families could be forced to choose between food, rent, and medicine in just a few days.
I know times are tough, and this news is difficult to hear. But we’re doing everything we can to push for a resolution in Washington while making sure folks here at home have the resources they need to get through this.
In the meantime, share these resources and my message below: * Visit pa-navigate.org — Pennsylvanians can search for food, housing, utilities, and other supports in their ZIP code.
*
* Call 211 (or visit pa211.org ) — connect with nearby food pantries and emergency food distribution.
*
* Find a local food bank via Feeding PA’s tool: feedingpa.org/find-food — enter your ZIP and get connected.

John, I’m writing to you today to discuss a very serious matter.
For many families in Pennsylvania, home-cooked meals, groceries for their kids, and the peace of knowing “we’ll make it this month” depend on the vital safety-net program called SNAP (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program).
But because of a Republican-caused government shutdown in Washington, food security for 40M hungry Americans is now under threat. You need to know, SNAP payments will not be made for November 2025 — affecting nearly two million Pennsylvanians who rely on that assistance.
If you’re one of them or know someone who is, I want you to know: my team and I are working around the clock to protect these benefits, advocate for a reopening of the government, and ensure that no one in our community goes hungry because of Republican dysfunction. But while we fight, you should also have the information you need today.
If you or someone you know needs immediate help, or you want to share resources: * Visit pa-navigate.org — Pennsylvanians can search for food, housing, utilities, and other supports in their ZIP code.
*
* Call 211 (or visit pa211.org ) — connect with nearby food pantries and emergency food distribution.
*
* Find a local food bank via Feeding PA’s tool: feedingpa.org/find-food — enter your ZIP and get connected.
If you are able, please share this message with anyone you know who uses SNAP, is in need, or works in a food pantry. The pause in benefits is happening now, and these resources could be lifesaving for many.
If you have the means, consider volunteering or donating to your local food bank — they are bracing for increased demand while SNAP is paused.
If you’re willing to step up in a more active way, we’d be grateful for your voice. You can respond to this email and tell me: How will this shutdown affect your family or someone you know? Your story helps us advocate in Washington and hold Republicans accountable.
Thank you for caring about Pennsylvania families — and for standing with our neighbors now when they need us most.
With gratitude and determination,
Mary Gay
