Before everyone puts on their costumes and I ask you to chip in before tonight's End of Month Goal, I want to tell you about one of my biggest fears: the future we'll live in if AI is left unregulated.

That's why I’m so proud of the RAISE Act, my bill that makes sure AI can only be used for treats, not tricks.

AI is moving faster than any technology in history. It's driving scientific advances and helping us develop life-changing medicines.

The problem is, this advancement is advancing without literally any guardrails. That's why leading AI experts warn that this could pose an existential threat to humanity.

Friend, I'm a firm believer that the only time sci-fi should come to life is Halloween night — and the RAISE Act is designed to keep things that way.

It keeps AI companies honest and incentivizes them to not cut corners and risk public safety. My bill passed with bipartisan support this year and has the support of 84% of New Yorkers. Now it’s sitting on Gov. Hochul's desk waiting for her signature.

Friend, if AI can't always determine the difference between "granola" and "ebola," it just might be common sense to put up some guardrails. But while Big Tech spends Big Money lobbying to veto my bill, I'm focused on fighting for it and common sense laws like it in Albany.

Andrew Gounardes is a champion for the working class and middle class families that are the backbone of New York.

He’s passed more than 100 bills into law, including legislation to protect kids from harmful social media algorithms, close a loophole in the state’s wage theft law, strengthen payment protections for freelance workers, expand the life-saving school zone speed camera program, guarantee family death benefits for public workers who died from Covid-19, and help secure and expand benefits for 9/11 responders.

He is working to help make college more affordable for New York students, dismantle the legal protections that allow perpetrators of workplace harassment and discrimination to prey on vulnerable workers, tackle the housing crisis by making it easier to build more affordable housing, and as a daily transit rider, fighting to improve the reliability, accessibility, and accountability of the MTA for all New Yorkers.
