Chris CoonsJoin us.
Dear John,

This week marks the 152nd anniversary of the ratification of the 14th Amendment, which extended citizenship to all people born or naturalized in the U.S., including formerly enslaved men and women.

The 14th Amendment granted citizenship and "equal protection of the laws," but the troubling reality is that to this day, many Black Americans are still not afforded true equal protection. Too often, people who have sworn to uphold and enforce our laws discriminate against Black Americans and other Americans of color.

This needs to change. We need structural change to our society and the institutions that govern it. One law alone cannot solve all of our problems, but I believe the Justice in Policing Act is the place to start.

I've signed on as an original co-sponsor of this critical legislation. Will you join me as a citizen co-sponsor, by signing your name today? Take action and add your name now!

Black Americans have endured injustice, simply because of the color of their skin, for far too long. It's long past time we demanded justice.

I have been inspired by the thousands of Delawareans who have taken to the streets to demand change. I am proud to have marched alongside you, and I am proud to be co-sponsoring this legislation alongside many of you.

Please, sign your name as a citizen co-sponsor of the Justice in Policing Act and join the growing number of Americans who are demanding change.

Thank you,

Chris
