If you have not signed up yet, OCA and the Center for Asian Pacific Women (CAPAW) will be hosting the annual AAPI Womxn's Summit: "Elevate the sHERO in You!" on July 13 to July 17, from 6:00 PM-8:30 PM ET.
This year, our conference will be held digitally, and Monday through Friday evenings will consist of two sessions featuring a moderated panel of speakers and professional coaching and mentoring. Participants will be able to:
- Meet other AAPI womxn from various regions, sectors, and careers
- Learn about self-advocacy, community building, and the effects of COVID-19 on job opportunities
- Take part in workshops over the current state of AAPI womxn in the workforce, self-care, financial literacy, professional coaching, and more

Daphne Kwok (Workshop Moderator)

Session 1: The Current State of AAPI Womxn in the Workforce
Daphne Kwok is the Vice President of Multicultural Leadership for the Asian American & Pacific Islander Audience Strategy at AARP. Her work empowers Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) to choose how they live as they age. She brings to AARP her experience as a “leader of leaders” through her community service in promoting and empowering the AAPI community.
Ms. Kwok was appointed by President Barack Obama in 2010 to chair his Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. The Commission served as the “eyes and ears” of the community advising the President and the federal government about the issues impacting the AAPI community. As Chair, Ms. Kwok met with AAPI communities throughout the country, connecting them to regional federal agency representatives. This opened an opportunity for the agencies to learn about these communities and to acquaint them with their programs and services. Ms. Kwok concluded her term as chair in May 2014 but continued as a commissioner until February 2017.
Previously, Ms. Kwok was Executive Director of Asians & Pacific Islanders with Disabilities of California. She was also the Executive Director of the Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation in San Francisco.
For 11 years, she was the Executive Director of the Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA), a national membership-based civil rights organization, where she addressed: hate crimes, campaign finance, immigration, Census 2000, English-only, and affirmative action. She was the first elected Chair of the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans, a network of national APA organizations. She also served as Executive Director of the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies.
A 1984 graduate of Wesleyan University, Ms. Kwok is the first Asian American to serve on its Board of Trustees, is a trustee emeritus and chaired the Wesleyan Alumni Association.
Ms. Kwok’s board service includes: Chair of APIAVote,, a member of the Comcast-NBCUniversal Joint Diversity Advisory Council, Co-Chair of the Nielsen External Asian Pacific Advisory Council and board member of the Asian American Advertising Federation. In 2019, she will serve a 2-year term as a member of the Network of Multicultural Aging Council of the American Society on Aging.

Session 1: Small Group Mentoring Session
Tuyet Duong is a Visiting Fellow at the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) within the U.S. Department of Justice, which administers over $2 billion from the Crime Victims Fund. She is charged with supporting OVC with its language access planning and culturally specific policy-making and grant making. Ms. Duong has over 13 years of experience in the government and nonprofit sectors with human rights, civil rights, and immigration law and policy. Most recently, she led a local nonprofit and victim service provider, Asian/Pacific Islander Domestic Violence Resource Project. Before that, Ms. Duong served as a Senior Advisor for the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, leading philanthropic engagement, private sector engagement, small business capacity building, and immigration and civil rights policy work. She also served as Policy Advisor at the Department of Homeland Security Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties.

Laura Huang is the MBA Class of 1954 Associate Professor of Business Administration at the Harvard Business School. Laura’s research examines interpersonal relationships and implicit bias in entrepreneurship and in the workplace. She is the creator of #FindYourEdge, an initiative dedicated to addressing inequality and disadvantage through personal empowerment. Her award-winning research has been featured in the Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Forbes, and Nature, and she was named one of the 40 Best Business School Professors Under the Age of 40 by Poets & Quants. Previously, she held positions in investment banking, consulting, and management, for organizations such as Standard Chartered Bank, IBM Global Services, and Johnson & Johnson. Laura holds an MS and BSE in electrical engineering, both from Duke University, an MBA from INSEAD, and a PhD from the University of California, Irvine. Her first book is entitled Edge: Turning Adversity into Advantage.

Sue Ann Hong joined the Center for Asian Pacific American Women (CAPAW) May 2018 as the interim Executive Director. As of January 2020, she is the President & CEO. Her career was with State Farm Insurance Companies for over 28 years, including Data Processing, Diversity & Inclusion, Corporate Business & Technology Portfolio Management and P&C Auto Claims. She’s led up to 600 employees in multiple locations, managed 1000 contract employees and supported customers and State Farm agents in 23 states. She’s worked in various locations, including MI, IL, NY and GA.
She infuses the philosophy of building trusting relationships, collaborating and bringing people together to achieve common goals. A 2002 Asian Pacific American Leadership Institute (APAWLI) Fellow, she continues her journey as a Whole Person Leader in her belief it’s the journey versus the destination. Her goal is to support CAPAW’s vision to build Whole Person Leaders one person at a time. Sue Ann graduated from the University of Kansas with a BSB in Business Management and earned a MBA from Western Michigan University. She is also a certified Life Coach (CLC). She currently resides in Atlanta, GA.

As Operations Vice President for State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company, Ken leads the Underwriting function, partnering with State Farm® agents in producing business for Auto, Home and Small Business customers. His responsibilities includes leading 5000 employees across multiple locations in the U.S., and serving as an executive sponsor for the AsiaNet Employee Resource Group.
Ken joined State Farm in 1983 and has served in a variety of executive leadership positions including executive assistant, vice president operations, vice president – administrative services, and operations vice president. He assumed his current position in 2012.
Ken received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Illinois, and has earned the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation, Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU and Chartered Financial Consultant designation (ChFC) designations.
He is married with two children, and has two grandchildren.

Dr. Maryland Pao

Session 1: A Self Reflection on Upbringing and Identity
Dr. Pao is the Clinical Director and Deputy Scientific Director of the National Institutes of Health Intramural Research Program at the National Institutes of Health. She was Chief of the Psychiatry Consultation Liaison Service in the Hatfield Clinical Research Center 2008-2019 and still serves as an Attending. A native of Bethesda, she attended Wellesley College before completing a BA/MD program at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She completed Pediatric and Psychiatric Residency training as well as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She is board certified in Pediatrics (1994, 2001), General Psychiatry (1994), Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (1994) and Consultation Liaison Psychiatry (2008, 2018). Her core research interests are in the complex interactions between medical and psychiatric symptoms in pediatric oncology, pediatric HIV and other primary immunodeficiencies and on the impact of these diseases on a person’s development. She studies distress and its correlates including suicidal thoughts and behaviors in medically ill children. She has published more than 130 research articles and chapters and co-edited the Quick Reference for Pediatric Oncology Clinicians: The Psychiatric and Psychological Dimensions of Pediatric Cancer Symptom Management, 2nd ed, Oxford University Press, Oxford, 2015. She helped develop the ASQ™ (Ask Suicide-Screening Questions), a suicide screening tool for pediatric emergency departments, and Voicing My CHOICES™, an advanced care planning guide for adolescents and young adults. A leader in promoting the field of pediatric consultation-liaison psychiatry and integrated care for children, she is a recipient of the 2012 AACAP Simon Wile Award for leadership in Consultation-Liaison. She is on the Clinical Faculty at Georgetown University, George Washington University and at Johns Hopkins University Schools of Medicine.

Sheri has been leading Papa Ola Lōkahi, the Native Hawaiian Health Board since 2016. Papa Ola Lōkahi (POL) is the organization charged by the United States Congress with administrative oversight of the Native Hawaiian Health Care Improvement Act [Public Law 102-396]. In this role, she leads efforts to improve the overall health and well-being of Native Hawaiians and their families, through strategic partnerships, programs and public policy.
Born, raised, and currently residing on Maui, she has over two decades of experience in social service programs along with years of supervisory experience, including both government and non-profit management. It is through these capacities that Dr. Daniels has worked closely with Hawai‘i’s unique and diverse population to overcome inequities.
Sheri is actively involved in various community and civic organizations locally, nationally and internationally. She was recently added to the International Indigenous Council for Healing Our Spirit Worldwide in 2018. In 2019, Dr. Daniels was added to both the Advisory Council on Minority Health (Office on Minority Health) and the Department of Health’s Tobacco Prevention & Control Advisory Board.
A graduate of Kamehameha Schools Kapālama, Dr. Daniels received her bachelor’s in family resources from the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. She carries a master’s in counseling psychology from Chaminade University of Honolulu, in addition to a doctorate from Argosy University, and currently holds several license certifications.
She is married with 4 children who are students in the Kula Kaiapuni (Hawaiian language immersion) program.

Tricia Sandiego, Senior Advisor for AARP’s Caregiving & Health team, is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) experienced in health communication and promotion and public health research and practice. Her current work focuses on strategy for educating the 50+ and their families on caregiving and healthcare through programs, online tools and resources. She serves as a spokesperson on caregiving topics for multicultural Asian American Pacific Islander outreach and live events like webinars and teletown halls. Tricia leads caregiving employer outreach work for AARP, equipping employers with practical tips, guidance, and free resources on how to offer supports for working family caregivers.
Prior to joining AARP, she held positions working at the National Cancer Institute and on Federal contracts for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the National Institutes of Health. She has a background in health disparities and behavioral health. She holds an MHS in public health from Johns Hopkins University, a BA and post-graduate certificate in Healthcare Management from McGill University, and is PMP certified by the Project Management Institute.

May Chen is a psychologist with many interests. Within the field of psychology, she has worked as an organizational, social, health, forensic, and clinical psychologist. She had declined opportunities to work for the NYPD, FBI, and CIA, and instead became licensed as a Clinical Psychologist and taught at the US Military Academy at West Point, training cadets in dealing with combat stress. She currently teaches at the National Central University in Taiwan and has been engaged in projects ranging from the psychological evaluation of violent and sex offenders to the development and training of EQ for school children. Her main research focus is in the area of stress, emotions, and health.
May’s interests, however, extend beyond the study of psychology. She is a trained Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), a certified locksmith, bartender, and advanced SCUBA diver, and had served as a Hospital Chaplain in a Level One Trauma Center. Prior to getting her Ph.D. in psychology, May had worked as a manager in the International Human Resource Department at Citibank, both in Taiwan and in its New York Headquarter. All these experiences have given May different angles to observe human behavior, in ways that constantly stimulate her interest in psychology and its application to everyday life.

Born and raised in China, Nancy moved to America and settled in Atlanta, GA in 2003. After moving to America, she attended the University of Georgia and received her MBA in Finance.
Nancy is a Retirement Income Certified Professional and she was named one of Top Female Advisors of Atlanta in 2019 and 2020 by NAIFA (National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors)
Nancy is passionate about helping clients make intentional financial decisions. She works closely with clients to understand the full scope of their financial needs and helping them build a road map to financial independence.
As a mom, Nancy raised her only son and supported him all the way through college. In 2018 he graduated from Vanderbilt University; Nancy has always considered this her biggest accomplishment in life. She understands most of her clients have competing financial needs such as living a good life today, being able to fund their children’s education, and taking care of retirement needs. Nancy has a passion to share her personal experience with college funding and retirement planning.

Deborah Y. Chen is an immigration attorney at The Law Offices of Deborah Y. Chen & Associates and longtime community activist for the past 20+ years. She is an expert in Small, Minority, Woman, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (SMWDBE) Government Contracting Programs and Supplier Diversity. She is the former Sr. Executive Staff Analyst at the City of Houston Mayor's Office of Affirmative Action & Contract Compliance and worked to promote equal opportunities, fair treatment, and capacity building for SMWDBEs and was Division Manager for MWDBE & Affirmative Action at the Human Relations Department of the City of Kansas City, MO. Debbie has been an active member of the Asian American/Pacific Islander (AAPI) community since attending the University of Texas at Austin (UT) and advocating for an Asian American Studies Center and the importance of UT to consider the needs/concerns of AAPI students in UT hiring of counselors at the student counseling center and inclusion of AAPIs in scholarship considerations.
She received her JD from South Texas College of Law and is a recipient of the Lyndon B. Johnson Civil Rights Award, State Bar of Texas Appellate Section Distinguished Service Award, and the Garnet F. Coleman AmeriCorps Civic Volunteer Award. She serves on the Board of OCA-Greater Houston Chapter where she co-founded the Houston AAPI Film Festival Committee and co-organizes the OCA-GH Advocacy Center's monthly Citizenship Workshops, pro-bono legal resource guide, and bi-annual National Asian Pacific American Elections Exit Survey Houston sites and GOTV efforts.

Tiffany Nicole Glenn is the Vice President of Human Resources, Comprehensive Services and Professional Employer Organization, for Automatic Data Processing (ADP), at the Alpharetta, Georgia campus. Tiffany has been in the field of Human Resources for 15+ years with experience in multiple disciplines including talent and performance acceleration, organizational design, associate relations, business process improvement, diversity and inclusion, change leadership, and learning management. Tiffany has been with ADP for 8 years, held 4 different roles, and has been in 3 different offices. Today, her role includes providing strategic HR business partner support to over 3,000 associates and leaders across the US by identifying, developing, and supporting the implementation of strategies to address human capital needs that drive positive business results.
Tiffany has a bachelor’s degree in Business Management with a Minor in Insurance from Illinois State University. She also earned her Masters of Science in Human Resources Management with a Concentration in Training and Development from Roosevelt University while working full-time at MetLife Insurance Company. Tiffany also holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources Management (SPHR) Certification.
Tiffany actively serves as a mentor to professionals inside and outside of ADP inclusive of an active mentorship role with Pathbuilders, an organization focused on the development of female leaders. She is on the steering committee for LeadHERship Coalition, an initiative that is sponsored by Walmart and Working Mother Media and is focused on the continued development and progression of multicultural women. She is also the Social Responsibility Co-Chair and a member of the Board for Women in Leadership (WIL) within ADP. WIL’s mission is to cultivate and promote leadership and career advancement opportunities for women executives. Finally, she recently joined the Board for Women’s Entrepreneurial Opportunity Project (WEOP), a non-profit organization based in Atlanta focused on the economic advancement of women. Tiffany is extremely passionate about motivating and encouraging others and has had the opportunity to speak at multiple events via Business Resource Groups and Non-Profit Organizations which has allowed her to share lessons and advice that she has gained over the course of both her personal and professional life.

Joyce Zhang is the Co-Founder and CEO of Alariss, a Silicon Valley-based global talent marketplace that reverses brain drain and promotes brain gain by matching knowledge workers in the US with opportunities in Asia. She was previously the first employee and VP of Sales for Human Interest, a fintech startup offering affordable retirement accounts for SMBs. In Asia, she worked for the President of Microsoft Asia-Pacific in Singapore and as a regional manager for Groupon China (JV with Tencent). In the public sector, Zhang worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation in Nairobi, Kenya, and for the Foreign Service in Mongolia. She received her BA from Harvard University, MPA from the Princeton Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, and MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Kimberly Williams is Stanley Black & Decker’s first Global Diversity & Inclusion Program Director. Working within the Corporate HR Team and partnering across the business units, she provides the center of excellence for the Stanley Black & Decker global D&I community through the development and implementation of best practice, knowledge management, leadership development and metrics that can be deployed by the local talent & affinity teams within each region.
With 20+ years of HR experience, she has supported and led D&I initiatives in several organizations across industries; including, investment banking, health care, nonprofit, aerospace manufacturing and higher education. Williams launched Next Level Development, a non-profit organization in 2005 dedicated to promoting the career and personal development of women across sectors, professions and levels.
Williams received her MBA in Human Resource Management from Syracuse University. Her Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from American University. Williams has been a visiting professor at Holyoke Community College, Westfield State University and Springfield College, School of Social Work and currently teaches Diversity Management for Non-Profit Leaders at Bay Path University where she has been an adjunct faculty member for nearly 8 years.

Erica Culpepper has built her career on four key pillars of success: driving strong performance, having a sense of purpose, a deep rooted passion for the work, and a spirited personality. She is currently, General Manager, L’Oreal Multi-Cultural Beauty, and oversees the US and Global business unit for a dynamic portfolio of brands, including Carol’s Daughter and Dark & Lovely, which celebrates, inspires and empowers women of color.
While in college, Erica read a profile on a senior female executive in beauty, and it inspired a career that has now spanned over 20 years, and taken her to the helm of some of the most powerful and iconic beauty brands in the world. She is a proud 15 year veteran of L’Oreal Consumer Products Division, and has spent her tenure in increasing leadership positions, managing businesses across L’Oreal Paris, Maybelline New York, Garnier, and now Multi-Cultural Beauty. Prior to L’Oreal, she spent 7 years with Johnson & Johnson Consumer Products Division, leading the company’s entry into anti-aging with RoC Skincare, and managing the adult skincare initiatives on Johnson’s Baby.
Throughout her career, Erica has driven strategic initiatives across multiple functions including marketing, sales, acquisitions, business development, and organizational readiness/change management. And across multiple categories, including Cosmetics, Skincare, Haircare, and Haircolor.
In addition to a proven track record of successful product launches and brand campaigns, she also led the acquisition and integration of Carol’s Daughter, bringing the natural hair pioneer into the L’Oreal family, and helping to expand L’Oreal’s leadership within the multi-cultural market. One of Erica’s proudest accomplishments is being at the helm of a powerful portfolio that helps to shape, define, and foster a more inclusive beauty movement that honors the creativity and individuality of black beauty, across all of the glorious skin tones, hair textures, body types, and lifestyles.
Erica is often celebrated as an inspirational leader with a relentless fighting spirit for her business, her team, and her consumer. She is an avid champion of women’s empowerment thru building self-confidence, and developing products that allow every woman to embrace and celebrate her own unique beauty. As such, she serves as a leader and mentor to young professionals within and outside of L’Oreal, providing career advice, coaching, mentoring and overall encouragement.
When she is not working, Erica’s most cherished role is being MOM to her 3 children.

Ms. Joanne Tabellija-Murphy joined Walmart in 2013 and is responsible for building partnerships and strategies that advance stakeholder advocacy, transform social change, and enhance the company’s corporate reputation.
As a seasoned corporate affairs professional with extensive experience and knowledge of key socio-economic issues, Joanne builds upon Walmart's initiatives in areas such as community engagement, public affairs, internal and public policy issues, diverse societal interests, and employee advancement. She also serves as an internal consultant to Walmart in diverse communities and markets, lending her expertise in establishing and building relationships with women, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and Native American communities.
Joanne is a member of several boards of directors and advisory councils including Working Mother’s Multicultural Women’s Advisory Council, Women Impacting Public Policy, National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), Enterprising Women Magazine, OCA National, National Association for Asian American Professionals (NAAAP). She is often lauded by civic and nonprofit leaders for her strategic thinking and communications prowess, and serves as a role model to many Walmart associates.
Before arriving at Walmart, Joanne worked for MillerCoors and Coors Brewing Company, serving as a senior manager of National Community Commerce and Partnerships. Her strategies on corporate and community partnerships strengthened the company's community investments and were strategically aligned with company's mission and core business objectives. Joanne also led multicultural initiatives for the company in emerging communities and diverse markets.

Kelly hails from Tsayatoh, New Mexico which is on the outskirts of the largest American Indian Reservation in the United States. She is full-blooded American Indian. She is Red Running into Water (half Navajo) born for the Acoma (quarter - Child of the Little Eagle Clan) and Zuni people (quarter - Child of the Turkey Clan). Kelly is married to Jeremy Hayes from Nambe Oweenge (Winter Clan), who is active duty in the U.S. Navy for over 20 years. They have three daughters, Nanabah, Lena Povi, and Makowa.
Kelly holds her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction and Bachelor of Science in Education from Montana State University both with emphasis in American Indian Education. Growing up on the Navajo, Acoma, and Zuni reservations, Kelly is deeply rooted in her traditional teachings from her family and community. Her work has always been with American Indian and Alaskan Native people, which has allowed her to collaborate with various organizations, tribes, and villages across the United States including Hawaii and Alaska at different capacities.

Sandy Hoa Dang, is a social entrepreneur, education expert, leadership trainer, and management consultant. Her passion is to develop and mentor young people to obtain quality education and to maximize their leadership potential to benefit society. In 2011, Ms. Dang was appointed by President Barack Obama to serve on the board of Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF), an independent U.S. Government agency with a mission to strengthen bilateral relations between United States and Vietnam through education exchanges. From 2014 to 2018, she served as the Executive Director of VEF. During her tenure, Ms. Dang initiated a leadership development program that includes Public Narrative and Adaptive Leadership for VEF Fellows who are scientists, engineers, and policy makers. She trained over 120 VEF Fellows in Public Narrative and Adaptive Leadership. She is the Co-founder and Principal of 11plus Philanthropy, a consulting company that provides leadership training, capacity building, and strategic planning to individual donors, foundations, and nonprofit organizations. Born in Hanoi, Ms. Dang left Vietnam when she was ten years old. After living in rural China and Hong Kong refugee camps for 3 years, Sandy with her family resettled in the United States at the age of thirteen. Because of her personal experience, Sandy has made it her mission to create educational opportunities for children and youths. For more than a decade, she served as Founder and Executive Director of Asian American Leadership, Empowerment, and Development (AALEAD), an organization that provided education to immigrant and refugee children. During her decade long tenure, she helped thousands of students to obtain academic achievement. Ms. Dang has received numerous awards for her outstanding public leadership, including being named Washingtonian of the Year in 2001. She also serves on the Advisory Board of the Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts Global (AVSE) Education Summit. In addition, she also serves on the Community Advisory Board of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Art and Community Advisory Board of WETA, and a Board Member of the Center of Asian Pacific American Women Leadership. Ms. Dang earned a Bachelor’s degree from Duke University, Masters in Social Work from Catholic University of America and a Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School. She is also fluent in Cantonese and Vietnamese.

She has 20+ years of experience in commercial loan servicing, asset and portfolio management. Marcy earned her Bachelor’s in Real Estate from the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University; her CCIM designation from the CCIM Institute; and her CCMS designation from the Mortgage Bankers Association.
Marcy is a mentor with the GSU Graduate Mentor Program and a GSU Honorary Real Estate Board Member. She is a member of the MBA’s Asset Manager Peer Group Roundtable and Education Committees. Marcy serves on the Board of Directors for the Georgia CCIM Chapter and just retired her Board position with the Georgia Center of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Marcy also supports member services with the Southeastern Chapter of REIAC and the Family Selection Committee with the Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. She completed the United Way’s VIP Program in Summer 2017. Mona is a Medical Officer in the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), where she is a physician conducting clinical and safety reviews within the Center of Biologics Evaluation and Research, regulating biological products, including gene therapies, gene editing therapies, and cell therapies, for human use under applicable federal laws.
Prior to joining the FDA in 2018, Mona was an executive in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry for more than 15 years, with a focus on leading global clinical development programs for oncology diseases, in particular for a monoclonal antibody therapy called Herceptin (trastuzumab). In addition, prior to industry, she was a physician investigator for clinical trials investigating neurology indications, and an internal medicine attending physician providing care for patients with various medical conditions.
Mona received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, and her Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering degree from UCLA. She completed her internal medicine residency training at Yale-New Haven Hospital and Scripps Clinic-Green Hospital, and she is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She moved from San Francisco with her husband, Christopher, to Silver Spring in 2018, and greatly enjoys living in Maryland.

Mary Tom is the current President of the OCA-Greater Washington, D.C. (OCA-DC) Chapter. She had served in previous years as President, Co-President, Executive VP, VP of Community Outreach and Community Health Outreach in the Chapter, has mentored in OCA National’s MAAP mentoring program and currently serves as a Director on the National OCA Board representing OCA-DC. She brings to OCA a diverse background of experience in both private sector and the public sector of Federal Government.
Mary spent the first part of her career (20+years) in private sector, which included serving as a Regional Personnel Administrator for a computer company supporting the HR needs of over 500 employees. Ms. Tom was also a College Grad Recruiter interviewing candidates in colleges/universities, with a concentration in identifying diverse ethnic students, for entry into private sector jobs of the computer company she represented. Mary has also had experience in Marketing and had served as an Account Executive in private sector as well.
Ms. Tom joined the Federal Government in 1993 in a variety of roles, i.e., HR Employee Relations Specialist, Program/Management Analyst, Public Health Analyst, and she now serves in the Office of Civil Rights, Diversity and Inclusion, as a Special Emphasis Program Manager, Veterans Employment Program Manager, and ERG Program Liaison to six Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), i.e. AAPI, Hispanic, Persons with Disabilities, Returned Peace Corp volunteers, veterans and the Pride ERG, in a Federal Agency within DHHS. During her service as a Senior Project Officer overseeing Community Health Centers (CHCs) in California, she was honoured to oversee CHCs that supported AAPI, Hispanic and African American communities. She also served as Program Manager for the Native Hawaiian Health Care Systems in Hawaii.
Ms. Tom holds a Business degree from the University of Maryland/College Park campus, with a focus on Mass Communications that included print/broadcast journalism, public relations and psychology. She had served on the WMUC campus radio station as a news and features broadcast reporter.
Ms. Tom will achieve 30 years of creditable service with the Federal Government by December 2021 and looks forward to retirement continuing her devotion to community service, spiritual ministry support to college/young adults at the Chinese Bible Church of Maryland and other ministries, plus will enjoy spending more time with her three grandchildren and family!

Victoria Huynh is the Vice President of the Center for Pan Asian Community Services, Inc. (CPACS), the first, largest, and oldest organization in the Southeast to focus on issues and concerns of Asian Americans and immigrants, especially women, children and families with low incomes.
Mrs. Huynh’s childhood experiences in her limited English proficient (LEP) Vietnamese Refugee household fuels her passion for community building, strategic planning, and policy work within the immigrant and refugee spaces. Since 2019, Huynh has tirelessly advocated for the Asian and immigrant communities on various local, state, and national community advisory boards, coalitions, and committees dedicated, but not limited to, areas of language access, civic engagement, immigrant rights, cultural competency, charitable services, and direct services. She serves as the lead of the CPACS’ civic engagement program and co-chairs the Asian American & Pacific Islander Complete Count Committee.
From 2013-2018, Huynh served on the National Regional Health Equity Council and currently served as the Cultural Competency Committee Chair. In 2015 and 2017, the Georgia Asian Times recognized Huynh as an honoree of the 25 Most Influential Asian Americans in Georgia. Huynh was recently appointed to a three year term with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia on the Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel.

Anni Chung, MSW, graduated from Lone Mountain Women’s College and the School of Social Work at San Francisco State University and has been the President & CEO of Self-Help for the Elderly since 1981. Anni completed the 2007 Leadership America Program. In 1997, she graduated from the Gallup Leadership Institute and was a National Fellow with the Asian Pacific American Women Leadership Institute (APAWLI).
Anni oversees and manages a community-based organization that provides a comprehensive range of health, educational, social and recreational services to over 40,000 seniors a year. Besides its one-stop, multi-service home office in San Francisco, Self-Help also operates a 70-unit Senior Housing Complex called Lady Shaw Senior Center and an 82-unit affordable housing project in Oakland called Lincoln Court, and a 15-bed Assisted Living Facility for Alzheimer’s patients called Autumn Glow Alzheimer’s Care Home. Self-Help operates 13 Senior Nutrition and Activities Centers, an Alzheimer's Day Care and Adult Day Health Care Center, a licensed Home Health and Hospice Agency, a Senior Employment and Training Agency, a Technology Computer Learning Centers for Youths called Digital Connectors as well as for Seniors. The Agency has offices in San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Alameda and Contra Costa counties. It employs over 375 staff with an annual budget of approximately $25 million, serving over 40,000 seniors each year. The Agency is widely recognized as a model program for seniors, and has been established since 1966.
In 2017, Anni was one of the Winners of the Jefferson Awards from CBS and KCBS. In 2013, Anni received the Community Service Award Innovation Award from Community Living Campaign for her work in bridging the Digital Divide. In 2010, USCIS presented Anni with the “American By Choice” Award and was named “Woman of the Year ” by San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee on March 15, 2011 and the same year, she was featured on ABC-TV as one of 4 “ Profiles of Excellence” to celebrate Asian Heritage Month.
Anni was presented with the 2007 Outstanding Overseas Chinese Award from the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association. In May 2005, KQED Public Broadcasting Company of Northern California honored Anni as a “Community Hero” at their Asian Pacific American Heritage Celebration. In 1999, Anni was the recipient of the “Equality, Justice and Community Empowerment “Award from the Asian Law Caucus. She was the recipient of the 1995 Silver SPUR Award presented by the San Francisco Planning & Urban Research Institute, and in 1994, the League of Women's Voters awarded her with the "Woman Who Could Be President Award". Anni was honored as "Woman of the Year" in 1993 by Assemblyman John Burton. She was the recipient of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Civic Committee's 1992 Community Service Award and also the Attorney General's 1992 Asian Pacific American Heritage Community Service Award, and the 1983 Seton Manning Outstanding Achievement Award from the United Way of the Bay Area.
Anni is currently on the Board of Directors of the API Council and the Wildflowers Institute.
Besides her community involvement, Anni is the Producer and Host of a weekly public affairs television program called "Chinese Journal" for KTSF-Channel 26.

As a registered nurse, faculty, and healthcare informatics specialist, Dr. Mary Joy Garcia-Dia had extensive leadership and management experience prior to assuming the role of Chair of Kalusugan Coalition, Inc. Her professional involvement and volunteer work in other non-profit organizations (PNA-NY, Inc., PNAA) where she held leadership roles as local chapter President, National Secretary, and Chair of Human Rights Committee, have kept her attuned to the healthcare and socio-economic concerns of Filipino-Americans in the community.
Mary Joy is a graduate of St. La Salle University (BS Nursing – graduated Cum Laude), New York University (MA in Nursing Informatics, Distinguished Graduate Award), and Case Western Reserve University (Doctorate in Nursing Practice – Director’s Award: Outstanding DNP Graduate). Her research interest is focused on global health particularly the use of mobile technology and resilience and structural empowerment. She had received numerous awards and citations from her Alumni School as an Outstanding Alumni Graduate in Nursing as well as recognition from the community on her collaborative work in facilitating the dismissal of the criminal case against the Avalon 12 Nurses + Lawyer through partnering with grass-roots organizations (NAFCON, NYSNA, ANA, Legal Aid Society). Mary Joy shared the nurses’ story at the 2nd Global Forum on Migration and Development in Athens, Greece as part of the Sentosa 27++ Campaign in addressing unethical recruitment of foreign-educated nurses.

Sen. Stephanie Chang, the first Asian American woman to be elected to the Michigan Legislature, worked as a community organizer in Detroit for nearly a decade before serving two terms in the Michigan House of Representatives.
She served as state director for NextGen Climate Michigan, alumni engagement and evaluation coordinator for the Center for Progressive Leadership in Michigan, deputy director for the Campaign for Justice and as an organizer for Michigan United/One United Michigan. She also worked as a community engagement coordinator for the James and Grace Lee Boggs School and assistant to Grace Lee Boggs, an activist, writer, and speaker.
The senator also is a co-founder and past president of Asian and Pacific Islander American Vote-Michigan, and she served as a mentor with the Detroit Asian Youth Project.
